As we all know, eating too much sweet food does no good to our health. But have you thought that your sweet tooth might have something to do with less sleep.

A new study finds that getting seven to nine hours of sleep per night may help control food.

Researchers at King's College London trained some "short sleepers" —people who slept less than seven hours per night. In order to extend their sleep time, the researchers asked them not to drink coffee any more. They must spend less time using smart phones and go to bed on time every night.

Because of the training, the "short sleepers" began to sleep one more hour per night. And here's the interesting thing: they also changed their diets.

"We have found that those who extended their sleep also reduced(减少)their intake of sugar by about 10 grams every day," said one of the researchers.

Their study is published in the American Journal of Nutrition. It provides more evidence(证据)that our sleep can influence(影响)our eating habits.
