He is the man who for many people has been a role model. Now your biggest hero deserves a special day when you can express your thanks and let him know {#blank#}1{#/blank#}  important he is to you.

    The third Sunday of June - which  {#blank#}2{#/blank#} (fall) on June 19 this year - is Father's Day.

    The idea of Father's Day came from an American woman {#blank#}3{#/blank#} (call) Sonora Smart Dodd in 1909. Dodd wanted a special day {#blank#}4{#/blank#} (honor)her father. He raised six children by {#blank#}5{#/blank#} after his wife died. Dodd thought there needed to be{#blank#}6{#/blank#} day to honor loving dads.

    The first Father's Day {#blank#}7{#/blank#} (celebrate) on June 19, 1910. In 1924, US President Calvin Coolidge supported the idea of a  {#blank#}8{#/blank#}  (nation) Father's Day. Finally, in 1966, President Lyndon Johnson declared the third Sunday of June as Father's Day.

    Here are some ways to show your love and respect:

    Send him a greeting card. Fathers prefer cards {#blank#}9{#/blank#}are not too emotional. So choose one that will make him laugh.

    If he has a computer, cover his desktop {#blank#}10{#/blank#} words like “I love you, Dad”.

    A small present, such as a framed photo of your family, can make him feel like a king.

    Our school planned a trip for us to study English in another country this holiday. I was excited for it was my first time{#blank#}1{#/blank#} (travel) abroad. I{#blank#}2{#/blank#} (pack) everything I thought I would need into my backpack. I knew I was going to have so much fun. After boarding the bus to the airport, I said goodbye to my parents. I looked out the window of the bus and dreamed about{#blank#}3{#/blank#} we would do while on our trip.

    If you go out to the fields at night in spring or summer, you can hear frogs singing{#blank#}1{#/blank#} (happy) here and there. It seems as if they were performing a field group singing.

    The frog is a good and useful creature that benefits human beings. They can catch fast-moving{#blank#}2{#/blank#} (insect). Each frog eats a large number of pests ( 害 虫 ) that are harmful to crops. This little creature is regarded {#blank#}3{#/blank#} “the natural enemy of pests”.

    But now frogs{#blank#}4{#/blank#} (get) fewer and fewer. This is because they are killed and put{#blank#}5{#/blank#} the table as a delicious dish by their chief enemy, human beings. It is a shameless and cruel act, isn't it?

    The cause that is{#blank#}6{#/blank#} (responsibility) for the rapid reduction of frogs is that farmers use insect killer to kill pests and frogs get killed as a result of drinking poisoned water while{#blank#}7{#/blank#} (eat) poison-killed insects.

    Something must be done as soon as possible {#blank#}8{#/blank#}(save) frogs. If we don't punish those {#blank#}9{#/blank#}sell and kill frogs to make money, then one day all of us{#blank#}10{#/blank#} (punish) by nature for failing to keep them.

    I was driving home late {#blank#}1{#/blank#} my car lost momentum (动力) and got slower and slower. Nothing I did seemed to make any {#blank#}2{#/blank#} (different). “It can't be fuel,” I thought. The petrol gauge (汽油标量) was showing I had plenty {#blank#}3{#/blank#} (leave). Then my car died completely after I {#blank#}4{#/blank#} (manage) to roll to the side of the road. It was an extremely dark, lonely country road. Neither a single person {#blank#}5{#/blank#} any traffic was in sight at all. I felt like an idiot. I should not have left without charging my cell phone. The battery was dead and I was alone without any way {#blank#}6{#/blank#} (contact) my family. Time dripped slowly like a leaking tap.

    “God, help me!” I begged anxiously. “Is there someone who will be kind enough to stop and help me out?” {#blank#}7{#/blank#}, there was no sign of anyone. I was starting to panic, {#blank#}8{#/blank#} (feel) completely abandoned. Suddenly I saw a faint light {#blank#}9{#/blank#} the distance. I waved my white scarf as hard as possible. It was a huge lorry. The driver stopped and kindly drove me to the nearest hotel, {#blank#}10{#/blank#} I had a rest, and I called my family and explained what had happened. How lucky I was! When he stopped for me, I felt as if I had just found a million dollars.

    Almost all the ice covering the Bering Sea has melted(融化), scientists have confirmed, {#blank#}1{#/blank#} (throw) communities living around {#blank#}2{#/blank#} (it) shores into disorder. The region's ice cover {#blank#}3{#/blank#} (normal) lasts for at least another month, and this year it has disappeared earlier than any other year except 2017.

    Living in {#blank#}4{#/blank#} northern Pacific Ocean between Alaska and Russia, the Bering Sea is experiencing the climate change and has drawn attention this year for record-breaking levels of winter melting. In February, rising Arctic temperatures {#blank#}5{#/blank#} (lead) to around half the region's disappearing in the space of two weeks.

    A report {#blank#}6{#/blank#} (send) by the International Arctic Research Centre at the University of Alaska Fairbanks has outlined the real-world effects of these surprising environmental {#blank#}7{#/blank#} (change) on the many communities {#blank#}8{#/blank#} live in the Bering Sea region.

    In their report, the International Arctic Research Centre scientists wrote that while not every year will be as bad as this one, ice {#blank#}9{#/blank#} (form) is likely to remain low if the Bering Sea's waters remain warm. They also warn that communities will need to "prepare for more winters {#blank#}10{#/blank#} low sea ice and stormy conditions".
