I want to buy a pair of sports shoes for a long time. I had spend months saving up the money to buy them and I finally had e  {#blank#}1{#/blank#}. Last Saturday my friend Jake wanted to buy a new CD, so we decided to go shopping together.

   We took the bus into town and it was very c {#blank#}2{#/blank#}, so we had to stand all the way.Jake and I were talking when I suddenly n {#blank#}3{#/blank#}that my bag was open and my purse had gone! The bus had just stopped and there was a boy near me who was going  quickly towards the door. We thought he had stolen my money so we got off the bus and f {#blank#}4{#/blank#}   him. The boy started running and then Jake ran after him shouting “Stop! T {#blank#}5{#/blank#} !” It was like a scene out of a film! A policeman saw what was going on and managed to get the boy.

   The embarrassing thing was that when the policeman s  {#blank#}6{#/blank#} the boy, he didn't have my purse! He probably thrown it away before he was caught. The boy said we had made a mistake and we shouldn't blame（指责）him for the stolen purse. He explained that he had o  {#blank#}7{#/blank#}   started running because he was late for a meeting with friends. The policeman a  {#blank#}8{#/blank#}   him to go and I felt really stupid. I don't know whether he stole my purse or not as there was no proof（证据）. I wish I hadn't been so careless and had kept an e {#blank#}9{#/blank#} on my bag!

   I've lost my front door key and 60 pounds. I'm really fed up. Jake offered to lend me the money to buy the sports shoes, but I don't think it's f {#blank#}10{#/blank#}    to take it. It isn't his fault（过失）that I had my purse stolen!

    In a history class, our teacher, Mrs Bartlett asked us to make a poster in groups about the culture that we were studying. She told us to write the names of three friends we wanted in one group and she would think about o{#blank#}1{#/blank#} choices(选择).

    The next day, I was told to be in a "bad" group. The boy in the group was too weak in English, and the other two girls always w{#blank#}2{#/blank#} strange clothes. Oh, how I wanted to be with my f{#blank#}3{#/blank#}!

    With tears(眼泪) in my eyes, I walked up to Mrs Bartlett. She looked at me and seemed to know what I was there f{#blank#}4{#/blank#}. I told her I should be in the "good" group. She gently placed a hand on my shoulder(肩膀). "I know what you want, Karma," she said, "but your g{#blank#}5{#/blank#} needs you. I need you to help them. Only you can help them." I was surprised and moved. Her words c{#blank#}6{#/blank#} me up.

    "Will you help them?" she asked. "Yes," I r{#blank#}7{#/blank#}. Then I bravely walked over to my group. I sat down and we started. Each of us did a part according to our interests. Halfway through the week, I felt m{#blank#}8{#/blank#} enjoying our group. We did a good job together. Nobody e{#blank#}9{#/blank#} Mrs Bartlett believed in our group.

    Amazingly, our group got an A. But I think the A should be r{#blank#}10{#/blank#} by Mrs Bartlett. Mrs Bartlett brought out the potential (潜能) in four of her students.

    I packed, and was ready to leave for my two-day trip. I had been busy with my work. I had made preparations for the t{#blank#}1{#/blank#} for the last few days, and I expected to get r{#blank#}2{#/blank#} for several days.

    As I got into the car to leave, my mind flew to my kids.

    How to keep in touch with your kids when you' re busy or far away is a dilemma (两难的问题) many fathers have. Men like to focus special attention on one thing for a long period, but this can lead to trouble. Moving from work to family isn't always an easy thing. And if you don' t s{#blank#}3{#/blank#} your kids that you're thinking about them, they may think that you don' t care.

    As I started down the road, I suddenly stopped to t{#blank#}4{#/blank#} back to my house and wrote a short message on a c{#blank#}5{#/blank#} of cards to each of my children. I put each in a "secret" place where I knew they'd find it.

    When I called the next night, they both said excitedly," Daddy, I got your card. When did you do that?"

    I was moved when I heard these words. What I had never thought was that a small thing had a big influence on my kids. It proved(证明) that they were in my h{#blank#}6{#/blank#}. And distance (距离) couldn't separate them from their f{#blank#}7{#/blank#}. To my satisfaction, they feel "love" of their father. This v{#blank#}8{#/blank#} experience encouraged me to continue to do the small things to be a responsible father.

    As fathers get much busier and have to work longer hours, they usually pay l{#blank#}9{#/blank#} attention to the small things. Don't miss the good chances to let your kids see how important they are.

    Take a moment to do a small thing for your kids. It won' t s{#blank#}10{#/blank#} small to them.

    “Early to bed, early to rise, makes a man healthy, wealthy(财富) and wise (智慧).”

    In American high，school most students take English, science, math and history.
