The Aborigines (澳洲土著) have lived in Australia for about 60,000 years. They painted pictures inside caves, and these are the rock paintings that have given us so much information about Aboriginal life. For example, some of the paintings that are about 10,000 years old show men with boomerangs. From this we know that the Aborigines started using boomerangs for hunting at that time. Other pictures show kangaroos, so we know that there were kangaroos at that time.
The Aborigines believed that spirits made people, animals and plants, and that these spirits still live in the earth. For Aborigines, no one can own the earth—the earth belongs to the spirits.
In 1700, there were many Aboriginal groups with a population of 750,000 all over Australia, and there were probably more than 240 different Aboriginal languages. The groups did not have a leader. Instead, things were decided by the older men in a group. People from different groups often travelled hundreds of miles to meet each other.
Aboriginal life changed when an English boat arrived in Australia in 1770. Many Aborigines were killed in the wars that they had with the English. More Europeans came, and they started taking land from the Aborigines. The Europeans also brought new illnesses that killed the Aborigines. The result is that today there are only about 300,000 Aborigines in Australia.

    How do you spend your spare time? There will be different answers to it. Most people in Poland (波兰) have their own ways of spending free time. Sometimes they just want to take a rest, but they try to do something more pleasant most of the time. They have many different hobbies, which help them to get away their everyday problems and spend their free time happily.

Many Polish (波兰的) people like traveling. They always look for new places that they have never been to and add new and exciting experiences to their journey. Some of them like to climb mountains, others like to go to a sea or a lake to swim, because these can make them get exercise and are good for their health.

    Many Polish people also like to do sports in their free time. They are usually crazy about football, and football is regarded as the Polish national sport. Many football fans may support a certain team, so they go to watch every match of the team they support, and they buy many things that have any relation with the team. Watching sport and doing it both are good ways to relax.

In addition, doctors say that doing sports is very good for health. Many people in town, especially young men, often go to the gym to attend the exercise classes to keep it.

    Besides these ways, Polish people have many other ways to spend their free time. And they really enjoy their free time.

My Favorite Sweater

My favorite sweater grew too small.

I love that sweater best of all.

My grandma made it when(当) I was three.

She made that sweater just for me.

I picked the yam(纱线), a special blue.

The color of bluebells, wet with dew(露珠).

When I was three, I was very small.

But now I'm five and much too tall.

I have a new jacket now that's green.

So I gave my sweater to our cat Queen.

Queen just had kittens out in the shed(小屋).

My favorite sweater is now their bed.
