浙江省杭州市2016-2017年英语中考英语模拟试卷(十九)

阅读理解 There have been many great inventions that have changed the way we live. the first great invention was one that is still very important today - the wheel. This made it easier to carry heavy things and to travel long distances. For hundreds of years after that, there were few inventions that had as much effect as the wheel did. In the second half of the 19th century, many great inventions were made, among them were the camera, the light and the radio. These are all a big part of our lives today. In the first half of the 20th century, we saw more great inventions. For example, the helicopter in 1909, movies with sound in 1926, the computer in 1928, and jet planes in 1930. This was also a time when a new material was first made. Nylon was made in 1935. It changed the kinds of clothes people wore. By this time, most people had a very good life. People had a desire to explore the world again. People knew a lot about the earth, but they didn't know much about the universe. They began looking for ways to go into space. Russia made the first step. Then the United States took the second step. Since then other countries, including China and Japan have done so too. In 1969, man took his biggest step from the earth. Two Americans walked on the moon. This is certainly just the beginning, too. New inventions will some day allow us to do things we have never yet dreamed of.

In fact, most Chinese food in America can be traced back to(追溯到)Guangdong. In the early 20th century, {#blank#}2{#/blank#}of Chinese came to America from Guangdong to look for jobs. They {#blank#}3{#/blank#}in some places like San Francisco. Of course, they brought {#blank#}4{#/blank#}dishes. But later they changed their dishes a lot to meet American tastes.

When Sally goes home for holidays, her friends often ask her about Chinese food. She always tells them about mutton and carrot dumplings {#blank#}5{#/blank#}they are Sally's favorite food. She learned {#blank#}6{#/blank#} a Chinese friend. Now she would like to {#blank#}7{#/blank#}it with her American friends. First, cut up{#blank#}8{#/blank#}and carrots, and put them in a bowl. Then, add a little oil and salt to them and {#blank#}9{#/blank#} them. When the filling(馅料)is{#blank#}10{#/blank#}, put one spoon of the filling on a dumpling wrapper(饺子皮)and fold it over. Finally, boil(煮)them in a pot for a few minutes. Now you can enjoy some delicious dumplings!

 阅读下列短文,从各题所给的A、B、C和D项中选出最佳选项。

Nowadays, protecting our environment has become an important topic for us. All of us live in one world. We are making waste every minute. When we finish reading a newspaper, the paper will become waste. When TV sets or computers are broken, they will become waste, too. Among all the waste we make, plastic(塑料的) bags and rubber(橡胶) stand out and catch people's attention.

Plastic bags are often used in our everyday life. The number of used plastic bags is going up day by day. We like to use them because they are convenient (便利的). When we get home, we throw the plastic bags away as waste. These are called "white pollution" as most plastics are white. Rubber  is also common (常见的) in our daily life. Many things we use are made of rubber, just like the bottom part of our shoes. However, it also brings us some trouble. The rubber waste pollutes the environment very badly because it can't break down easily in nature - it will not change for a long time.

To solve the problems above, we should take action at once. For example, when we go shopping, we can bring cloth bags but not plastic ones. And we should do something to recycle (循环使用) rubber. Our small actions can make a difference and lead to a better future.

 阅读理解

①PUA stands for "Pick-up Artist." It started as a term for people who use clever ways to influence their interactions (交流) with others, especially between lovers. This idea has grown, and now it also means people use tricks to control others in the workplace and online. It's very helpful to know about PUA because it can deeply influence how you feel about your development. Here are some common behaviors to be careful.

②Sometimes people who use PUA tricks criticize a lot. They might tell you that you're always doing things wrong. It is just a way to make you feel sorry about yourself rather than helping you improve. They may also try to keep you away from your friends and family. This makes you depend on them, and gives them more control over you. Another trick is called gaslighting (煤气灯效应). For example, you remember something clearly, but they keep saying it didn't happen. They want you to doubt (怀疑) what you know is true.

③To avoid PUA behaviors, there are several steps you can take. First, learn to tell what healthy friendships and relationships look like. Being confident is also important because it will be not so easy for others to trick you. Besides, you should be brave to say no when something feels wrong. What's more, talking to someone you trust like a teacher can be very useful.

④Knowing these signs and how to deal with them can help you have better relationships. It's like building a strong foundation (基础) for happy and healthy relationships as you get older.

 阅读下面短文,从每题所给的A、B、C、D四个选项中选出最佳选项。

Have you seen a group of people with their eyes staring at a screen, singing out loud without a care in the world? If so, you have witnessed (见证) a period of karaoke time, and the people are entertaining themselves by singing along to recorded music. You don't hear the words. Instead, the words appear on a screen for the singers to follow and sing the words. This form of entertainment originated (起源) in Japan, and the word karaoke means "empty" (kara) and "orchestra" (oke).

Karaoke was invented in the early 1970s in Kobe, Japan. The inventor was a musician named Daisuke Inoue. One day, a businessman asked him for a recording of his music so that he could sing along to it at a business meeting in another town. The recording was so good that the businessman returned and asked for more songs. This gave Inoue the idea of inventing the first karaoke machine.

In its early days, the karaoke machine was found mainly in hotels and restaurants. Singers performed in front of the other customers. A lot of people loved the idea of singing their favourite songs, but didn't feel comfortable singing in front of strangers; so in the 1980s, the karaoke box was born. This was a private (私人) room where people could sing with their friends without other people hearing them. Eventually, karaoke found its way into people's homes as part of home theatre systems.

As technology advanced, karaoke-based video games were created. By 2003, people could also access karaoke services on their mobile phones. This made it possible for music lovers to burst into (突然开始) song at any time, in any place. In some countries today, karaoke machines are even found in cars and taxis for the entertainment of passengers. Karaoke is definitely here to stay, and it will continue to adapt to our changing lifestyles.
