    Every year thousands of young people in England finish school and then take a year off before they start work or go to university. Some young people go to other countries and work  {#blank#}1{#/blank#}volunteers. These young people are glad to give {#blank#}2{#/blank#} (they) time to help people without pay. For example, they work in schools or hospitals, or they do something {#blank#}3{#/blank#} (help) for the environment.

    Pauline Jones, 18, {#blank#}4{#/blank#} (live) in Cardiff, Wales. Next year she wants to go to university to study Chinese, but now she is living in Belize. Pauline says, "I'm working {#blank#}5{#/blank#} other people here to save the coral reefs (珊瑚礁) in the sea near Belize. The reefs here are beautiful, but {#blank#}6{#/blank#} the sea water is very polluted, the coral will die. I'm helping to do research on the coral and the fish that live around the reefs. We need {#blank#}7{#/blank#}(do) something about the problem before it's too late. I don't get {#blank#}8{#/blank#} (some) money, but that's OK. I love my work here. When I finish my work, I want to stay here for another three {#blank#}9{#/blank#} (month). I think I can learn{#blank#}10{#/blank#} (many) things during the volunteering than in university."
