初中英语牛津版(深圳·广州)九年级下册Module 2 Environmental problems Unit4 Natural disasters同步练习

根据短文内容,选择正确答案。

Height is just one of the features your genes (基因) decide. In fact, because you have two parents, your genes provide you a height that usually lands somewhere between the height of each parent. If both your parents are tall, then most probably you will be tall, too. But if you have questions about how tall you're going to be, ask your doctor if he or she can help you find them out.

But genes don't decide everything. For example, eating an unhealthy diet can keep you from growing to your full potential (潜力). Getting plenty of sleep and enough exercise will help you grow to the expected height.

It's natural that you're wondering how fast you should grow. There's no perfect or right answer. Generally speaking, kids grow about 6 cm a year between age 3 and the time when they start puberty.

Your doctor will know how your growth has been going over the years. 2 cm here and 3 cm there make a little difference to the height you're at now. How have you been growing up to this height? What other changes may your body be going through?

Don't be amazed if you seem to have grown a lot in a very short time. Everyone has a growth spurt (高峰) during puberty. The age for starting puberty is about 10 for girls and about 11 for boys. But it can be earlier or later--between 7 and 13 for girls and 9 and 15 for boys.

You'll usually begin to notice that you're growing faster about a year after your body starts to show the first changes of puberty.

(1)、If you want to know how tall you should grow,        .

A、you should have enough exercise B、you can ask doctors for help C、you should take some special medicine D、you can record your growth during puberty
(2)、The Chinese for the word "puberty " is       .

A、童年时期 B、婴幼儿时期    C、习惯养成期 D、生长发育期
(3)、This passage is mainly about         .

A、how the genes work in your body B、how your parents' height influence you C、how you look like your parents D、how you grow to a certain height
(4)、After reading this passage, we can explain       .

A、how good it is to be a doctor B、how much sleep time we need C、why genes can't decide everything D、what healthy diet is
(5)、Which is NOT mentioned in the passage?

A、Your height most probably depends on how tall your parents are. B、Girls' age for starting puberty is usually earlier than that for boys'. C、The features showing the first changes of puberty between boys and girls are different. D、You may be amazed sometimes when you grow too fast.

Do you often listen to music at loud volumes(音量)? {#blank#}1{#/blank#}1 Over one billion young people may end with hearing loss,because of listening to loud noise for long periods of time.

{#blank#}2{#/blank#} It is not safe to listen to sounds that are louder than 85 dB(分贝) for eight hours or 100 dB for 15 minutes. The sound of a busy road is about 85 dB and the sound of a rock concert can be about 100 dB.

Loud noise is harmful to the inner ear. Most of us are born with about 16,000 hair cells(毛细胞) in our inner ears. These cells notice sounds. However, listening to loud noise for a long time can make these cells work too hard and cause some of them to die.This is what causes hearing loss. {#blank#}3{#/blank#}

Some people might think that their music isn't all that loud. {#blank#}4{#/blank#} For example,if you are in a noisy place like the subway,you might turn up your music too loud without knowing it. Later,you might feel uncomfortable.

Here is some advice on safe listening. Over﹣the﹣ear headphones are better than in﹣ear ones. {#blank#}5{#/blank#}And remember not to listen to loud music on your headphones for a long time.

A. Once this happens,it's hard to get your hearing back.

B. They do a better job of stopping outside noise,so you can listen at a lower volume.

C. You should know that this habit is bad for your hearing.

D. The United Nations has standards(标准) for safe listening.

E. But this can depend on where you are.

 根据短文内容,回答下列问题。

How much do you know about "Taobao"? Do you often buy goods(商品) online? During every big festival hundreds of millions of dollars is spent online. "Who needs a shopping mall if you have Taobao? I am a Taobaoer," says Wang Fang, 28, a writer in Beijing. Taobao, China's largest online shopping site(地点), has become an important part of Wang Fang's life. She spends half of her salary (工资) on Taobao. A growing number of Chinese Internet users like Wang have found the pleasure of online shopping. Most online shoppers are students and young workers. People can find almost everything they need online, from clothes to books, from candy to DVD players. And clothing and household(家用的) things are the most popular goods bought online.

The biggest attraction(吸引力) for buyers is the low prices of online goods. Buyers can also check the information easily. They can compare the prices of the same kind of goods from different sellers, and choose the cheapest one. When someone asks her about the safety(安全) of online shopping, Wang Fang said, It's very safe and easy. If you can't get the goods from the sellers or are not satisfied(满意的) with them, the shop owners will not get the money. You can also get a refund(退款) if you give the goods back.

 阅读下面短文, 从每题所给的A、B、C、D四个选项中选出最佳选项。

For years, scientists have been researching how exposing(暴露) humans to nature may improve their physical and mental health. People are encouraged to visit forests and grow houseplants. Now researchers are also testing whether we can get some of the same benefits from experiencing nature in VR(虚拟现实).

Scientists are trying to understand what exactly about nature makes a real difference in health results. One tool that might help is VR, says Hector Alvarez, who wanted to find out if simply seeing nature can relax people. In an experiment, VR allowed him to expose people to the visual(视觉的) experience of nature while controlling temperature, light and air pollution. He is now preparing to publish his research.

People can feel safe faster in environments with lots of plants, Hector explains. "That's why I was interested in VR. If it is right that we feel safe faster in nature, it should bring your stress levels down. "

So far, Hector says, research shows there are some health improvements by experiencing nature in VR. However, they are smaller than those got in the real nature.

Gretchen Daily is an environmental scientist at Stanford University. She agrees at parts of this research, especially in situations without nature. But in the long term, connection with nature in the real world can not be replaced. To some degree, Gretchen worries that the idea might take off that VR can replace the real thing. "If that's taken very far, that' ll be really harmful overall because the real thing is necessary in so many ways, " she says. "We just cannot live on a dead planet. "
