Mr Jenkins has several big shops in the city. He's very rich but he does his best{#blank#}1{#/blank#}(pay) the persons who work in his shops less. And they all hate him.

    Several months ago a young woman borrowed thirty thousand dollars from him. But she couldn't return the money to him in time. He went to her and made her {#blank#}2{#/blank#}(give) her ring to him which cost more than fifty thousand dollars. He put it into his wallet and went home happily. But when he got to the bus stop, the bus{#blank#}3{#/blank#}(leave). He hurried to get on and left his wallet outside. He didn't find it until he got home. The judge said to Mr Jenkins, “I'm sure you have lost a wallet in which there are two rings and some money. But there is only one ring in this wallet. I{#blank#}9{#/blank#}(not think) it's yours. Wait for some days. Perhaps someone will be able to return your wallet to you.”

    Then the judge turned to the old woman and said, “Take the wallet home. If the loser doesn't go to get it back in three days, it{#blank#}10{#/blank#}(belong) to you.”

    Each different part of China has its own special forms of traditional art. These usually try to show the things{#blank#}1{#/blank#}are important in life, such as love, beauty and family. The most common things, from paper to clay to bamboo, are turned into objects of beauty.

    According to Chinese history, sky lanterns were first used by Zhuge Kongming. He sent them out {#blank#}2{#/blank#}(ask)for help when in trouble. Today, sky lanterns are used at festivals and other celebrations. They{#blank#}3{#/blank#}(make) of bamboo and covered with paper. The paper, usually red, is folded before it is cut with scissors. The Most common pictures are flowers, animals, and things about Chinese history. During the Spring Festival, they are put on windows, doors and walls{#blank#}7{#/blank#}symbols of wishes for good luck and a happy new year.

    Chinese clay art is famous because the clay pieces are so small but they look very real. The pieces are usually cute children or lively characters from a Chinese fairy tale or historical story. The pieces are{#blank#}8{#/blank#}(careful)shaped by hand from a very special kind of clay and then allowed to air-dry. After{#blank#}9{#/blank#}(dry) they are fired at a very high heat. They are then polished and painted. It takes several weeks{#blank#}10{#/blank#}(complete)everything. These small pieces of clay art show the love that all Chinese people have for life and beauty.

    When a woman took the seat beside me on a plane, I felt uncomfortable. She had to make herself lower {#blank#}1{#/blank#}(slow), pushing her heavy body into the small space.

    "My name is Kelly. I'm a Canadian. Where are you {#blank#}2{#/blank#}?"She waved her hand quickly in front of my face. "China," I said as I shook her hand unwillingly. When we {#blank#}3{#/blank#}(serve) drinks and meals, she made sure that I had enough room in my seat.

    "I don't want {#blank#}4{#/blank#}(make) you uncomfortable with my elephant size!" she said truly. As we talked, I was surprised by her wise {#blank#}5{#/blank#}(word). She had read many books and was knowledgeable.

I asked her {#blank#}6{#/blank#}she ever thought about losing some weight.

    "Aren't you worried{#blank#}7{#/blank#}the illnesses that come with being overweight?"

    "Not at all. I eat {#blank#}8{#/blank#}(healthy) and walk regularly. " she said. "I believe, in my heart, the people {#blank#}9{#/blank#}get ill are the ones who worry. So you are free to be yourself."

    I suddenly realized that Kelly was {#blank#}10{#/blank#}(beautiful) and cleverest woman I had ever met in my life.

    When doing Christmas shopping, Joy came across (偶遇) Nick, the least popular student in school because he wore strange clothes and had a face only a mother could love.

"Sure," said her mother who was always happy {#blank#}7{#/blank#} guests came. Her father smiled. When Joy called Nick two hours later, he was deeply {#blank#}8{#/blank#} (move). He joined them for dinner. To Joy's surprise, she enjoyed {#blank#}9{#/blank#} (spend) time with him. Joy came to understand sharing Christmas cheers is the {#blank#}10{#/blank#} (great) joy to Nick, even to the whole world.
