When I told my Mends l was going to move from the city to the countryside，they couldn't believe it．I was {#blank#}1{#/blank#}because I'd never been out of the city before．Would {#blank#}2{#/blank#}be very different? Well, see for yourself．

    Many things are different about the city and the countryside．In the city, I {#blank#}3{#/blank#}.in a tall apartment building with my parents．Our building was filled with people, but I only knew a few of {#blank#}4{#/blank#}．Now we live in an old farmhouse．Our nearest neighbors are about one kilometer away．But all the neighbors are {#blank#}5{#/blank#}．They often come to visit us with lots of food．

    However, some things in the city and the countryside are the {#blank#}6{#/blank#}．In the city, my mom and I {#blank#}7{#/blank#}to go shopping on the weekend．We went to different shopping centers．

Here in the countryside we {#blank#}8{#/blank#}shop in farmers' markets on the weekend．The greatest thing that is the same is friends．I made some good friends in both the city and the countryside．We do homework and read {#blank#}9{#/blank#} together every day．

    When I think about the most important things,  {#blank#}10{#/blank#}family and friends, maybe there aren't so many differences between the city and the countryside．Personally, I think they're both great．

    Once there was a very rich man. He had a lot of money, but he wasn't happy at all. He didn't know the purpose (目标) of his life. {#blank#}1{#/blank#}(连词) the rich man asked a clever old man for help.

    The old man {#blank#}2{#/blank#} (take) him to a window and asked him, " What can you see {#blank#}3{#/blank#} (介词) the glass (玻璃)?"

    The man said, "I can see people coming and going along the street And there is a poor man {#blank#}4{#/blank#} (ask) for food."

    The old man looked at the rich man {#blank#}7{#/blank#} (smile) and said, "Did you find that both the glass of the window and the mirror are made of the same thing? The only difference (差别) {#blank#}8{#/blank#} (be) that there is a silver coating (银色涂层) on the mirror. So all you can See is {#blank#}9{#/blank#} (you) in the mirror. It is the same with people. You will be able to see the others when you take away that silver coating. It covers (遮住) your {#blank#}10{#/blank#} (eye). When you can see the others and feel compassion (同情) and 10ve for them, you'll find the purpose of your life and feel happy."

    Billy's favorite color was orange. But he couldn't see what orange looked like.

    A month after he was born, his mother found that his eyes weren't as {#blank#}1{#/blank#} as other babies'. "He is blind (瞎的)." The doctor said. Even so, with the hope to help Billy learn about the world around {#blank#}2{#/blank#}, his mother kept describing everything she saw for him.

    Not just{#blank#}3{#/blank#} his mother's words, Billy saw with his ears and hands to know the world, too. He had great hearing, "He probably can't see{#blank#}4{#/blank#} or sizes of things, but he can notice many special sides of them." Said his mother.

    {#blank#}5{#/blank#} Billy lived in the dark, he always believed a dream would light up (点燃) his life. He found that he was interested in computer science. So he{#blank#}6{#/blank#} learning it at seven years old. As a young boy, he {#blank#}7{#/blank#} going to Stanford University some day. After he worked hard for years, Billy {#blank#}8{#/blank#} made his dream come true.

    Many people wanted to find out{#blank#}9{#/blank#} he could get success. Billy replied, "Just move forward! And always believe you will be able to {#blank#}10{#/blank#} yourself better step by step."

    You cannot choose what you are given, but you can choose how you make use of it.
