Our school has a Glee club and it's excellent. So what is a Glee club? It's a club for singing and I love singing. I{#blank#}1{#/blank#}(be) a member for eight years! 

Miss Higgins is the club leader. She {#blank#}2{#/blank#}(choose) the songs and helps us to sing them. She plays the piano, too. She's {#blank#}3{#/blank#}(real) cool and kind. She never gets angry with{#blank#}4{#/blank#}(we). Guess what? She's not even the school Music teacher, but she loves singing.

We often sing popular songs from films， but we sometimes sing old songs from the 1960s and 1970s. Three times a year we sing our songs {#blank#}5{#/blank#} front of other students of the school in a special concert. When I'm on stage, I feel so {#blank#}6{#/blank#}(excite). The teachers and the other students always cheer {#blank#}7{#/blank#} we finish. It feels wonderful.

I love Glee club. Music is {#blank#}8{#/blank#} great way to bring people together. You make so many friends at Glee club and not just with people from your school year. Glee club is for all {#blank#}9{#/blank#}(age).

We meet in the school hall every Tuesday at lunchtime and every Friday after school. Come and join us - we are always expecting {#blank#}10{#/blank#}(see) new people!

Paris is a city with many historic buildings. But do you know that the most famous historic building in Paris is not really old at all? It's just over 100 years old. You'll find that's a spring chicken if you compare it with the Palace of Versailles. It's said that the Palace of Versailles has a history of over 300 years. Well, the building I mean is the Eiffel Tower. 

The Eiffel Tower was named after an engineer(工程师) called Gustave Eiffel. Gustave Eiffel's company built it between the years 1887 and 1889. 

When people think of Paris, they first think of this 330-metre tower. Every year, nearly seven million people visit the Eiffel Tower. It was the world's tallest building until the US finished building the Empire State Building about 40 years later. 

Here are a few facts about the Eiffel Tower. The tower has three levels for visitors, with restaurants on the first and second levels. If you walk to the second floor, you will climb 674 steps. Gustave Eiffel's company had a permit(许可证) for the tower to stand for twenty years. But as the tower was valuable for communication purposes, the city decided to keep it. 

Now it's a symbol of Paris. It's impossible to think of Paris without thinking of this great man-made wonder. 

Seven years ago，Joyce Akinpe moved to Australia to start a new life，finding an exciting job in Sydney. After the outbreak（爆发）of COVID﹣19，she suddenly lost her job. 

Seeing that there were many others like herself in trouble from the outbreak，Akinpe and her two roommates，Michelle Gomez and Maureen Lee，brainstormed ideas for how to help their local community. They came up with a street pantry（储藏柜）. Gomez said the idea was very simple，"Take what you need and leave what you can. "

With the help of Gomez's father，they built the Blessing Box — a street pantry，with shelves and hanging baskets and two doors made from old furniture. 

It sits just at the back of the three girls' home，so they can look after it. They put some information notices into their neighbors' mailboxes，and the Blessing Box was quickly filled with the donations（捐赠）from the community. "It is the community's strong support that keeps the project alive. " Akinpe said. 

"We now have hundreds of people visiting our box every day. It might only take two hours for the box to be full and next hour it might become empty again. We are now helping others to carry out similar projects in their own communities，too，" Gomez said. 

Lee said things in the box were mostly convenience foods，as well as some necessary life things such as spaghetti and toilet paper. "Few people take everything at once. They think there are other people who need them more. " Lee added. 

There were many people rushing there for donations. The three girls needed to sanitize（消 毒）all the donations and make sure all food packages were not broken. Gomez said that they had no time for rest，but what they did was well worth. 

Do you know that the colour words have other meanings？Now let me tell you. 
First，some colour words can be people's last names，such as Brown，Black，Green，White and Red. 
Second，some colour words have interesting meanings. For example，blue means unhappy. Green hand means you are new to something. If someone meets a "black cat"，something unlucky might happen to him. Black sheep means bad people in a group. Black coffee means coffee without（没有） milk. White coffee is coffee with milk. If someone tells you to put something "black and white"，they want you to write it down. In China，red is known to be a lucky colour. But you may be surprised to know that British culture（文化） is also full of the colour red. If someone "sees red"，they are angry. A company "in the red" is losing money.
