A man once advertised for a person to work in his office, and nearly fifty people applied for the place. From all the applicants (应聘者) , in a short time, he chose a boy and {#blank#}1{#/blank#}.

    "I would like to know," said a friend, "how you came to choose that boy, He had not a single recommendation (推荐信) with him."

    "You are mistaken." said the man. "He had {#blank#}2{#/blank#}." "He cleaned his shoes before he came in, and{#blank#}3{#/blank#}after him, showing that he was tidy and orderly."

    "He gave up his seat at once to an old man, showing that he was{#blank#}4{#/blank#}."

    "He took off his cap when he came in, and answered my questions politely,{#blank#}5{#/blank#}."

    "He lifted up the book which I had purposely laid on the floor, and put it on the table,{#blank#}6{#/blank#} all the others stepped over it, or pushed it aside, showing that he was {#blank#}7{#/blank#}."

    " And he waited quietly for his ture, {#blank#}8{#/blank#} showing that he had good manners."

    "When I talked with him, I noticed that his clothes were carefully brushed, his hair in nice order, and his teeth as white as milk."

    "When he{#blank#}9{#/blank#}, I noticed that his fingernails were clean, instead of being tipped with pen."

    "Don't you call these things letters of recommendation? I do and what I can tell about a boy,{#blank#}10{#/blank#}for ten minutea,is worth more than all the well-prepared letters he can bring me."

    A boy found an eagle's(鹰) egg and he put it in the nest(巢) of a chicken. Soon the egg broke open and the eagle {#blank#}1{#/blank#} out. He thought he was a chicken. He grew up doing what chickens do— looking for {#blank#}2{#/blank#} in the dirt and flying short distances(距离) with a noisy waving of wings. It was a hard life. Little by little the eagle grew {#blank#}3{#/blank#}. One day he and his chicken friends {#blank#}4{#/blank#} a beautiful bird flying in the air, high {#blank#}5{#/blank#} the mountains.

    "Oh, I wish I could fly like that!" said the eagle. The chicken {#blank#}6{#/blank#} "Don't give it another thought. That's the great eagle, the {#blank#}7{#/blank#} of all birds—you can never be like him!" And the eagle didn't give it {#blank#}8{#/blank#} thought. He went on cackling(咯咯) and complaining about {#blank#}9{#/blank#}. Finally, he died thinking he was a chicken.

    My friends, you are born an eagle, {#blank#}10{#/blank#}. The God expects you to be an eagle, so don't listen to the chickens.

    Pan Jianwei, " Father of quantum (量子) " , was born in Zhejiang in March 1970. After he{#blank#}1{#/blank#} at the University of Science and Technology of China from 1985 to 1995, Pan went to Vienna in 1996 for further studies and stayed there until 2001. Then he returned to the Chinese university as a physics professor and began to build a quantum science research team at the university. The team now includes about 50 {#blank#}2{#/blank#} , most of whom are also returnees  from overseas(海归) .

    He became a member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences ( 中 科 院 ) in 2011. Of all the members, he was the {#blank#}3{#/blank#} one. In 2015, he was named the standing vice - president of the University of Science and Technology of China.

    Under his leadership, the world's first quantum satellite(卫星) was launched(发射) {#blank#}4{#/blank#}in August 2016.

    Pan Jianwei was recognized by Nature magazine on {#blank#}5{#/blank#} list of "10 people who mattered" in 2017.
