Teaching your child to read can be one of the most rewarding(值得的) experiences you have as a parent.
{#blank#}1{#/blank#}
Nothing can replace the head start(起步时的优势)that a child receives from becoming familiar with books and the way that the written word sounds when read aloud. If your child sees that reading is important to you, then he will be much more likely to want to learn how to read himself.
{#blank#}2{#/blank#}
If your child shows interest in learning letters and looking through books, he may be ready to begin learning to read. Learning how to read cannot be rushed. If your child has no interest in learning his letters, then wait a month or so and try again.
{#blank#}3{#/blank#}
You can make this fun, such as saying “I see a [k]-[æ]-[t]-cat” whenever you see a cat. The sound of a letter is much more important than a letter's name because the child will need to combine the letter sounds to make words.
{#blank#}4{#/blank#}
Some children learn their letters faster by seeing or hearing them, while other children learn letters by using their bodies. Encourage your child to draw the letter and then paste pictures of something that begins with that sound onto the letter. Sing songs about the letter. Read your child a story that repeatedly uses that letter sound.
{#blank#}5{#/blank#}
Rather than try to teach a child 26 new letters at one time, focus on one letter a day or a week. This enable the child to master each letter sound and feel proud of himself/herself for doing so.
A. Read to your child daily. B. Show your child your love for reading. C. Make sure your child is ready to begin learning how to read. D. Focus on one letter at a time. E. Teach your child the sound of each letter. F. Use sight, sound and touch as you teach each letter. |
A: I visited the Museum of Failure last week.
B: Museum of Failure? I've never heard of it. What was on show?
A: {#blank#}1{#/blank#}Some of them were made by the most famous and successful companies like Apple and Coca﹣cola.
B: {#blank#}2{#/blank#}Does it make fun of these companies?
A: {#blank#}3{#/blank#}The companies always encourage young people to try and make mistakes.
B: {#blank#}4{#/blank#}
A: Because they believe a person who never makes a mistake never tries anything new.
B: I see. Probably this is why the companies don't think it's shameful to have a show of their failed products.
A: You are right. {#blank#}5{#/blank#}The key is whether or not you can learn from your mistakes.
A. Of course not. B. It's unbelievable. C. Failure isn't always a bad thing. D. You might change your mind. E. What for? F. Successful stories are all similar. G. More than 100 failed products. |
A. That's great! B. They are helpful teachers. C. That's a really bad excuse. D. Yes, but only a few word. E. We all learn from mistakes, don't we? F. Try to talk with them as much as possible. G. Yes, unless you're busy. |
The girl (G) has talked with some foreign teachers at the English corner. Now she is telling her English teacher (T) about it.
G: I've just been to the English corner
T: Oh? {#blank#}1{#/blank#} Did you talk with Glen and Linda?
G: {#blank#}2{#/blank#} And I'm not sure if they understood me.
T: No problem. You have a good start.
G: But I'm afraid of making mistakes when I speak.
T: {#blank#}3{#/blank#}Be confident of yourself.
G: But do you think they like to talk with us beginners?
T: Sure. {#blank#}4{#/blank#}
G: Well. I'm still not so confident. You know my pronunciation is poor.
T: Don't be worried about it. {#blank#}5{#/blank#}
G: All right. Thank you, sir.
