There is a big desert {#blank#}1{#/blank#} our village and Hope Town. If you want to go to Hope Town, there are two {#blank#}2{#/blank#} (way) for you. One is short but dangerous; the {#blank#}3{#/blank#} is long but safe. Many people died in order {#blank#}4{#/blank#} (get) to Hope Town sooner.

  “We need some trees in the desert,” said {#blank#}5{#/blank#} old man. But soon all the young trees died out in the hot sun. “Don't {#blank#}6{#/blank#} (worried). We can use them as our road signs,” said the old man，“Every time we walk along them，pull them upward so {#blank#}7{#/blank#} we can still see them.”

   One day a businessman was walking to Hope Town. Some villagers gave him the {#blank#}8{#/blank#} (advise).

  “Maybe it's the only time for me to come here. It doesn't matter to pull the dry trees upward {#blank#}9{#/blank#} Not,” he thought. When he walked to the half-way point, a heavy wind came. In no time he {#blank#}10{#/blank#} (lose) his way. And soon the poor businessman died!

    Today I received a sweet letter from Brianna, one of my "cookies". It was wonderful to hear {#blank#}1{#/blank#} her. You see. {#blank#}2{#/blank#} I taught kindergarten, I called all {#blank#}3{#/blank#} sweet children "cookies". Brianna said that every day she would walk into kindergarten and see a smile {#blank#}4{#/blank#} my face. I named them "cookies" because I always feel that children can bring great happiness and {#blank#}5{#/blank#} (excite) to my life. I still feel that all children are the {#blank#}6{#/blank#} (great) joy I could ever have.

    So far I {#blank#}7{#/blank#} (teach) children for over 35 years. All my children were {#blank#}8{#/blank#} are now a great joy of my life. {#blank#}9{#/blank#} (hope), I feel very lucky to be able to use my life's talent to teach children and have fun {#blank#}10{#/blank#}( do) it every day. I am able to spread my wings and help my "cookies" to spread their wings.

    Patricia was born in Michigan and grew up in California. When she was a little girl, she often stayed with her grandparents who lived in Union City, Michigan. One summer day, a meteorite (流星) {#blank#}1{#/blank#} (fall) from the sky, right into her grandparents' backyard! Before that, her grandparents had lived a {#blank#}2{#/blank#} ['kwaiət] life on their farm. Now things were {#blank#}3{#/blank#} from before. They had so much to do. People came to see the meteorite. The professors from the {#blank#}4{#/blank#} [ju:ni'vəsti] came to study it and analyze (分析) it. Her grandparents had never talked to so many people in {#blank#}5{#/blank#} (they) lives! Everything changed.

    As you can guess, no one in the town had ever {#blank#}6{#/blank#} (see) a meteorite before! They were confused (困惑) and didn't know {#blank#}7{#/blank#} to do. Some people thought it would bring them good {#blank#}8{#/blank#} (lucky) if they touched it.

    Patricia loves to tell the story about her meteorite and even today, she carries a piece of the meteorite with her {#blank#}9{#/blank#} [weər'evə] she goes. When I met her, she let all of us touch it and make a {#blank#}10{#/blank#}. What might you wish for if you could meet Patricia and see her meteorite?
