浙江省绍兴市长城教育集团2015-2016学年八年级上学期期末考试英语试题

根据短文内容选择正确答案。

Never try to work when you are very hungry. If you decided to do your homework right after school, you may get something to eat before getting to work. Always do your homework before you get too tired. Don't wait until very late in everything, or your work will seem much harder than it really is.

If you have more than an hour's work, give yourself a break after an hour. On the other hand, don't break it up so much, or you can't finish anything, you should be able to work at least a half at a time without stopping.

Don't put it off until the last minute. If you put off doing your homework, you will have it on your mind, and you will not enjoy your free time so much. If you put it off until the end of the week or until right before a test, you will have too much work to do. A little bit each night, enough to keep up with what is happening each day in school, will make you not afraid of the test and get good grades.

Do your homework at the same time every evening. This will help you make it a habit. It will make it easier to do, and it will make your free time more enjoyable, as well.

A、look very easy B、go to so much trouble C、become a bit hard D、seem much harder

The Oxford English Dictionary(OED)is thinking of adding the Chinese word tuhao to its 2014 edition(版本). The word has become popular in China since 2013. It is used to describe rich people who spend money in extravagant(奢侈的)ways. The word has also become popular in Western countries, too.

The word being used by people in foreign countries is an example of China's spreading influence in the world in not just economy(经济), but also society and culture. People are paying attention to what is happening in China and are gradually picking up some Chinese words. These words express special Chinese ideas, but they cannot be easily translated into English.

The OED is also thinking of adding hukou and dama to the 120 Chinese words that have been collected in its dictionary. Hukou means China's system(制度)that makes sure Chinese people can live in a certain place, and dama means middle-aged Chinese women who influence the global gold markets because of their gold-buying habits.

The news that the OED will include these Chinese words has been criticized. Some people say the words can be embarrassing to some people in China, but others think that it's natural for words to spread and be used in other places. In fact, the word tuhao expresses the humor of China. It is easy to pronounce and it makes fun of rich people who have more money than taste.

So, welcome to the English language, tuhao-let's be friends!

 阅读下列材料,从每题所给的A、B、C、D四个选项中选出最佳选项。

"They'll understand when they're older, " Hearing this, as a parent, you may feel better. But the fact is that even when kids become adults, it doesn't mean they'll agree with your decisions.

Recently, I have had lots of conversations with my 19-year-old daughter about decisions I made in her childhood. She says she disagrees with some of them and some have even caused harm to her. That hurts. I think I must have failed as a parent.

It turns out that my daughter's questioning(质疑) is very normal. It happens to almost every teenager when they are in their late teens.

"In their late teens, teenagers start to find out who they are and what they stand for(支持),"says Mary Fleming, a college professor. "The search for identity (身份) is not always smooth. " The first task for teenagers is to dismantle the old life structure (结构) and to build a new one in its place. In other words, parents created that old life structure of childhood, so they are often at the heart of that dismantling process.

Hearing critical(批评的)words is hard. But if your teenager comes to you wanting to talk about it,pay attention to him or her. For both of you, it's the beginning of understanding each other. And as they grow up, teenagers will realize they can't live their lives over again, and neither can their parents. They will understand that their parents did the best they could with what they knew at the time.
