Many  students may feel {#blank#}1{#/blank#}(stress) because of their parents. Most parents have goodintentions, {#blank#}2{#/blank#} some of them aren't very helpful with the problems their sonsand daughters have in {#blank#}3{#/blank#}(adjust)to college, and a few of them seem to go outof their way to add to their children's {#blank#}4{#/blank#}(difficulty)．

Forone thing, parents are often not aware of the kinds of problems their childrenface. They don't realize that the {#blank#}5{#/blank#}(compete) is stronger, that the requiredstandards of work are {#blank#}6{#/blank#}(high), and that their children may not be preparedfor {#blank#}7{#/blank#} change. They may be upset by their children's poor grades. At theirkindest, they may {#blank#}8{#/blank#}(gentle) ask why John or Mary isn't doing better, whetherhe or she is trying as hard as he or she should, and so on. At their worst,they may threaten {#blank#}9{#/blank#}(take) their children out of college or cut off livingexpenses.

           Sometimes parents think it right and natural that they determine {#blank#}10{#/blank#} their children dowith their lives. They forget that everyone is different and that each personmust develop in his or her own way.
