Symptoms of Dehydration(脱水)

    You're bad- tempered.

Researchers tested the mood and concentration of 25 women who drank healthy amounts of water one day, and then didn't over the next two days. When slightly dehydrated, the women reported tiredness, bad temper, headaches, and difficulty focusing. In a separate test, men with mild dehydration also had trouble with mental tasks. Scientists are still trying to figure out why.

    You have a bad workout.

It impacts how much you can push yourself. Even a 2 to 3 percent fluid loss affects your ability to get a good workout and more than 5 percent dehydration decreases exercise capacity by about 30 percent. A no-brainer way to avoid dehydration and dehydration symptoms is to aim for this much water per day.

Driving while dehydrated may be just as dangerous as getting behind the wheel drunk, in terms of how many mistakes you could make on the road. British researchers had participants take two-hour drives [using a simulator (模拟器). When they drank enough water, there were 47 driving errors.

You feel dizzy when you stand up too fast.

One of the signs of dehydration is when your blood volume and pressure drops, it can leave you feeling dizzy or faint, or bring on that rush of light-headedness after you quickly get up from sitting or lying down.

The exact treatment for dehydration symptoms depends on age and how severely dehydrated someone is. Most of the time, however, people use some over-the-counter solutions for kids, and adults can drink more water

A. You drive like you're drunk.

B. Dehydration can be life-threatening.

C. To get rid of dehydration you have to replace lost water.

D. In extreme cases, people might go to the hospital for a treatment.

E. Dehydration reduces blood pressure and makes the heart work harder.

F. But when it came to mood changes, women changed much more than men's.

G. But when they are short of water, there were more than doubled driving errors to 101.

Getting the Cheapest Flights

After interviewing 10 travel agents in the area, we've compiled (汇编) the very best tips for finding the cheapest flights.

Book your flight 21 days before you want to fly. Booking a flight is like playing a game of chicken. Airlines want to get the most money possible for their tickets and have difficult computer programs that adjust their prices automatically. Booking too early, you might miss out on some major deals. {#blank#}1{#/blank#}The best advice is to book your flight 21 days before your planned departure date to get the best deals.

{#blank#}2{#/blank#}Most airlines update their reservation systems on Tuesday at 7 p.m. GMT. People tend to buy their tickets on weekends, so airlines make changes on one of the slowest days of the week—Tuesday.

Fly on Tuesday or Wednesday. Tuesday and Wednesday are the least busy days at airports, and are also the cheapest days to fly. {#blank#}3{#/blank#}Friday and Sunday are the peak flying days of the week, and are the worst, and most expensive days to fly.

Book early for international flights. {#blank#}4{#/blank#}You can also try flying into smaller airports, which sometimes have better deals.

    Eat your cookies(网络标记). Delete your Internet browser cookies if you've visited an airline site within the last 30 days. {#blank#}5{#/blank#}

Compare prices. Use travel search engines, in addition to airline websites, to make sure you're getting the best deal possible.

A. Collect it one day ahead.

B. Tuesday is the best day of the week.

C. Pay in cash when you receive your ticket.

D. Booking too late, you might be shocked to see prices skyrocket.

E. The best deals for international flying are found 11-12 weeks in advance.

Sports Fans and Identity

Many people are crazy about a particular sports team. They are big fans and seem to connect their own identity to their chosen team.

Identity consists of things like gender (性别), personality, abilities, and social groups. The groups we belong to shape our identity. Related to this is the theory developed by Henri Tajfel and John Turner. {#blank#}1{#/blank#} In knowing who we are, we may more closely identify with our social group than with our gender group. We also decide which group we belong to, based on different aspects of our identity. According to the theory, our self-esteem—how we feel about ourselves—is reflected in the group we belong to. {#blank#}2{#/blank#} For example, we naturally protect the group we belong to, while making other groups less important. We think highly of the team we support, while we may add negative comments about an opposing team.

Researchers have studied language used by sports fans. {#blank#}3{#/blank#} By using pronouns like “we”, fans show that they feel connected with the team when it is winning. “We really killed that team. They couldn't get the ball past us.” However, when their team didn't do well, the fans would distance themselves from the team, using different pronouns. “They didn't know what they were doing. They had no planning.”

{#blank#}4{#/blank#} They have found those fans have more self-confidence and feel more competent. They are quite sure they have the ability to deal with situations successfully or do things to a satisfactory standard. {#blank#}5{#/blank#} These people will perform better at work and earn and spend more money, so experts suggest that a winning team may have a positive influence on the economy of a city.

A. They suggested that we naturally classify people into groups.

B. That causes increased competitions between different groups of sports fans.

C. It is probably because the victory reflects well on their personal sense of identity.

D. Comments from group members certainly have a strong influence on our behavior.

E. When their team did well, the fans would closely identify themselves with the team.

F. That leads to the fact that we want our group to be seen more positively than other groups.

G. Social scientists have also studied the effect of winning a championship on the fans of the winning team.

Go fly a kite

Learning how to fly a kite is simple and flying kites can be a fun form of exercise.

Of course, the first thing you need is a kite and a ball of string (线). {#blank#}1{#/blank#} Then wait for a windy day.

    When the perfect day arrives, find an open space, such as field. {#blank#}2{#/blank#}

Before flying your kite, find out which way the wind is blowing. {#blank#}3{#/blank#} To begin flying your kite, stand with your back to the wind and hold the kite up so the wind can catch it. If the day is not very windy, you may need to get your kite started by running.

{#blank#}4{#/blank#} At the same time, walk backwards a few steps to keep the string tight. Now that your kite is up in the air, you can decide how long to fly it and how high you want it to go.

{#blank#}5{#/blank#} Slowly wind up (卷起) the string. Try not to pull your kite in too fast or it may crash (坠落).

Flying kite is a great way to spend a windy afternoon. If you follow these steps carefully, you will have something more fun to do than sitting inside and watching TV. So on the next windy day, get up off the sofa. Go fly a kite!

A. You can do this by throwing grass into the air.

B. Finally, you will need to bring your kite down.

C. You can buy your kite and string at a toy shop.

D. Follow the instructions to put your kite together.

E. Nothing beats seeing a kite sail high into the clouds.

F. Don't fly your kite near trees because it can get caught.

G. Once the wind catches your kite, let out more string so it can climb higher.
