Getting up early has been regarded as a good habit since ancient times. Many years ago, people thought that if we went to bed early and got up early, we would be energetic the whole day. So, getting up early is of great importance to us all.

In fact, morning is the best time of a day. In the morning, the air is the freshest and people are usually in the best conditions. Many of us may have the experiences that we memorize some things more quickly and accurately in the morning than at any other time of the day.

Additionally, if we get up early and do some morning exercise or only take a short walk in the morning, without doubt we can build our bodies and become much healthier. That is why many people getting up early do physical exercise year after year.

We will also have enough time to make a plan and get ready for our work or study of the day if we get up early. For example, if everyone in the family gets up early, we will have enough time to prepare the breakfast for the whole family. Children will have enough time to catch the school bus, and husband will never forget to change his dirty shirt. Everything is in order. What a harmonious scene! However, if we get up late, we will probably have to do everything in a great hurry, making it in a mess.

Let us remember getting up early is a good habit. If you are a late riser, you may find it difficult to form the habit of getting up early. You will have to make efforts to do so. If you want to get up early, sleeping earlier the night before expect to be successful. Besides, you can set your alarm clock or ask someone whom you know will be awake at that time to call you If you stick to getting up early every day, you will certainly benefit a lot from it.

Life is a matter of choice. Seemingly, it means a choice of concrete (具体的) things. But in fact, it means choosing a way of life. Life is to be lived and enjoyed, not to be wasted or complained about.

Hardly can we forget the time when our society faced the threat from the life-and death disease — SARS. Yet, even during those dreadful times, some suffering people remained optimistic. Instead of wearing white masks, some people turned to color1 ful ones, and thus displayed a happy mood. And some creative people dubbed SARS to mean “SMILE AND REMAIN SMILING.” People who survive these kinds of circumstances decide in their minds to carry on in spite of the hardships.

Although we cannot choose our appearance, inborn gifts and even avoid unexpected disasters and adversities (逆境), we do have the right to choose to live optimistically, to love our lives, to have dreams, and to cherish hopes.

Every morning when we get up, we have a choice of how we want to approach life that day.

While many of us go to sleep before midnight, some teenagers choose to stay up much later. They are not driven by the burning desire to write a better essay or achieve a higher grade. Instead, they are busy playing online games. Known as young Internet addicts, they have long been a problem in China. A report released(发布) in 2010 by the China Youth Association for Network Development showed that there were over 24 million young Internet addicts among China's young urban Internet users. The report also said that over 18 million youth tended to develop Internet addiction.

To deal with the problem of Internet addiction among teenagers, the Cyberspace Administration of China released draft regulations (法规草案) in January which carried out a ban on online gaming. If the regulations are passed, under-18s would be banned from playing online games between midnight and 8 am.

As soon as the government's draft law was introduced, it drew great attention from the public. Some thought highly of the law as a way to better protect teenagers, saying that too much overnight gaming is harmful to teenagers' health and believing the period between midnight and 8 am to be important to human physical functions. However, others wondered whether it would be practicable if it came into effect, as teenagers could just borrow their parent' IDs to register (登录)accounts to play online games. The Guangming Daily suggested that parents should help their teenagers find a balance between the cyber(网络的)world and the real world.

China is by no means the only one trying to fight against teenage gaming addiction. Germany introduced a regulation in 2002 trying to stop teenagers from playing online games from 10 pm to 6 am. Meanwhile, the UK, the US and Australia have forced a rating system(分级制) on computer games to make sure that teenagers cannot access  “adult” content such as violence, sex or bad language.

According to the United Nations, half the Yemeni population suffers from famine. More than 85,000 children may have died of hunger since Saudi Arabia interfere in the war in Yemen three years ago, according to Save the Children, an international NGO.

“For every child killed by bombs and bullets, dozens are starving to death and it's entirely preventable,'' said Tamer Kirolos, Save the Children's country director in Yemen.

With only a few hospitals still 'operational, the nongovernmental organization says that the human cost of the conflict cannot simply rely on official numbers.

Instead, the charity used historical mortality rates(死亡率) and United Nations data on Yemeni malnutrition to estimate that more than 25,000, or 20 to 30 percent of all acutely malnourished children, have died every year since April 2015. The estimates, the NGO said, may still be lower than the actual number of deaths.

“Children who die in this way suffer immensely as their vital organ functions slow down and eventually stop. Their immune systems are so weak that they are infected easily, with some too weak to even cry,” said Save the Children representative Kirolos. “Parents are having to witness their children wasting away, unable to do anything about it,” he said.

A Chinese boy is reported to have spent about 2 million yuan in studying in New Zealand but failed to get any diploma. He even could not take care of himself and his grandmother had to feed him.

The man in the case is a so-called adult baby, because his deeds make him almost the same as a baby. He cannot take care of himself. He is unable to go to school, let alone finish studies. He even relies on his grandmother to feed him.

However, he burns money faster than any normal student. He spent about 2 million yuan in two years overseas, but could not finish even the preparatory courses. We do not mean to judge his choice, but someone who lacks the basic ability to survive has little chance of success in any modern society.

In a later interview, the mother of the boy was in tears and said she regretted not having taught her son well. She also told the story about how she “educated” her son: meeting all his demands, even the unreasonable ones. When he did not perform well in school, she simply spent money in sending him overseas; she would buy whatever he wanted. That was bad for her and bad for him.
