 David Smith is a student，and one of his hobbies is writing．During the summer of 2010，he spent four weeks at a summer camp．Besides the usual activities，such as sailing and climbing , there was a writing class．"The teacher was a writer, and she asked us to talk about our lives and tell interesting stories. Then she envouraged us to  write about our experiences at the camp,”says David.

 Back at school, David wrote a story about the life of a sixteen-year-old boy, and it came out as a book in 2012. Mang young people love his book, and as a result, David has become a successful young writer.

 David has been very lucky because his hobby has brought him pleasure and success. But writing is not his only hobby. He is also interested in many other things. "I like playing volleyball，too，"says David．"I spend some of my free time playing volleyball for my school team．Maybe I'll write about my volleyball team in my future books.”

McDull is a talking piglet(小猪). He is not lazy. He isn't smart or good-looking. But he has a heart of gold. McDull lives with his mother Mrs Mak in Hong Kong. Before his birth, his father left them. Mrs Mak had to raise McDull by herself.

They are not rich, but Mrs Mak tries her best to make a good life for McDull. However, when McDull grows up, he becomes a detective(侦探) and leaves home. The mother and the son are not as close as before. Can they go back together and be close mother and son again?

As the first appearance of McDull film, McDull became a popular cartoon character(角色) because of his spirit of never giving up. The funny piglet has many dreams but fails every time he tries. Mrs Mak doesn't appear very often in the first four McDull movies. But in McDull · Me & My Mum, she is a main character. The film is about mother's love.

    I have a pen pal in Canada. His name is Simon. He lives in Ottawa, Canada. He is twelve years old. He also studies in Grade Two.

    Simon lives in a happy family. His father is a policeman and his mother is a bank clerk. Simon and his parents like exercising. They almost exercise every day. Simon's father is tall. He is good at playing basketball. Simon's mother likes playing volleyball.

    Simon usually gets up at 6. 30 am. He eats his breakfast at home. Then he goes to school. It's kind of far from the school to his home, so he usually has his lunch at school.

    Usually, Simon does his homework four times a week. Simon likes watching TV. He usually watches TV for about one hour every day. He goes to bed at nine.

    "Oh, my God," said Mrs. Kim. "I don't think we will be able to do our lesson today." Children loved Mrs. Kim's science lessons. Josh asked, "Why not?" "Well," began Mrs. Kim, "I had planned to do some measuring today. But I forgot to bring any ruler. We can't measure anything without a ruler, can we?"

    "What are we going to measure?" asked Mathew. "I want you to measure the distance from one side of the classroom to the other side." answered Mrs. Kim. "We could measure it as my dad sometimes does，" said C. J. "He sometimes just puts one foot in front of the other. I guess that's how we find out how long something is. "

     "Let's see whether that will work，"said Mrs. Kim. "Why don't you see how many feet it takes to cross the room, C. J. ？"C. J. began walking from one side of the classroom to the other side. He put one foot down and then put the heel of the other foot at the toe of his first foot. He continued doing this until he crossed the room. "I counted thirty of my feet from one side to the other side, " C. J. said.

     "So you think the room is thirty feet across？"asked Mrs. Jim. "I think someone else should try "said Maddie "just to make sure. ""All right，Maddie "said Mrs. Kim "why don't you try？"
