We call Chinese New  Year the Spring Festival . It is usually in January o{#blank#}1{#/blank#} February. It is one of the most important festivals in China.

   Before the Spring Festival, families usually clean their houses. Children like the Spring Festival, because they can wear new clothes and get pocket money(压岁钱) f {#blank#}2{#/blank#} their grandparents, parents ,uncles and aunts. On New Year's Eve, all the family members get together to have a b{#blank#}3{#/blank#}  dinner. After dinner, all of them stay up late to welcome the New Year. On the first day of the Spring Festival, people go to v{#blank#}4{#/blank#} their friends and relatives. They give each other the best wishes and good luck for the coming year. They all h{#blank#}5{#/blank#}  a good time.    

    It was the first time that my wife and I had flown first class. As we boarded the plane, we felt as if we were part of a wealthy group. We were{#blank#}1{#/blank#} (满的) of a sense of pride at sitting with those important people.

    We noticed that the stewardess (空姐)was working non-stop to make sure of the comfort of the first class {#blank#}2{#/blank#} (乘客). She could not walk by a seat {#blank#}3{#/blank#} (没有)being given an order. I thought she must love her job very much, since she gave each person {#blank#}4{#/blank#} (如此的) a big smile.

    As the stewardess passed our seats near the end of the {#blank#}5{#/blank#} (航班) , I looked up at her and said: “Thank you and I hope you have a great night.” She stopped with an {#blank#}6{#/blank#} (表情) of disbelief on her face, and said: “Excuse me?” I {#blank#}7{#/blank#} (重复)my words, and she smiled in a rather funny way. It seemed as if I had asked a question that she did not know how to{#blank#}8{#/blank#} (回答). A little later, as we were getting off the plane, the stewardess said to me: “Thank you very much, sir.” Then she said {#blank#}9{#/blank#} (静静地): “You are the only one who has thanked me or said anything nice to me all night. I really appreciate your kindness.

    The sense of belonging to an elite(精英) group in first class disappeared as soon as I heard those words. We were{#blank#}10{#/blank#} (提醒) that if there was no kindness, there would be no first-class flying.

    My father {#blank#}1{#/blank#} (work) in an office. There {#blank#}2{#/blank#} two large windows in it. One day, a woman in a {#blank#}3{#/blank#} (pass) car looks up and sees my father. My father waves his hands, {#blank#}4{#/blank#} the woman waves back. This gives my father an idea.

    Later, he changes his way of {#blank#}5{#/blank#} (greet) people. He writes signs, like "Hello" or "Be happy". Every afternoon when people go home from work, my father will greet them with the signs. Then they {#blank#}6{#/blank#} （give）my father big smiles.

    The day when I came into the world, my father put a sign {#blank#}7{#/blank#} the window, "I'm a new father!" To his surprise, a sign {#blank#}8{#/blank#} (hold) by some people, saying, "Congratulations!"

    My father learns the {#blank#}9{#/blank#} (true) in the saying, "You smile, and the whole world smiles with you." And he becomes {#blank#}10{#/blank#} first one who greets strangers with signs every day.

    It's Sunday morning. My grandparents, my parents, my cousin and I are at my home. We are all {#blank#}1{#/blank#}. What are my grandparents doing? Oh, my grandfather is exercising. He is playing {#blank#}2{#/blank#} two balls. My grandmother is reading a newspaper. She is reading a story in it. The story is {#blank#}3{#/blank#}. Look! How happy my grandmother is! And my father is watching TV. He is watching CCTV News. It's his favorite TV {#blank#}4{#/blank#}. My mother is in the kitchen. She is {#blank#}5{#/blank#}. She can cook nice food. She is a good mother. I love her very much. My cousin Peter is my uncle's {#blank#}6{#/blank#}. He is 10 years old. He is listening to music in my room. He likes music and he {#blank#}7{#/blank#} play the piano and the guitar. He is good at {#blank#}8{#/blank#}. He wants to be a singer(歌手). What am I doing? I'm {#blank#}9{#/blank#} the computer, but I'm not playing games. I'm {#blank#}10{#/blank#} an e-mail.

    I was once a fat girl. I weighed 336 pounds (152kg) and looked as big as my fridge. I was never w{#blank#}1{#/blank#}it. But one day I had a medical examination (体检) .The d{#blank#}2{#/blank#} told me that I was having heart trouble. It w{#blank#}3{#/blank#} me up. I began to feel nervous. Then I decided to do something!

    In a year and five months, I l{#blank#}4{#/blank#} 104 pounds. What a great thing I did! I didn't have any expensive food, medical treatment (治疗) or camp-style (训练营式的) exercise. What was the secret to my s{#blank#}5{#/blank#}?

    First I looked through the Internet for do-it-yourself advice that people could f{#blank#}6{#/blank#} on losing weight. Of course I saw countless ads (广告) which tried to get me to buy their products. But I bought nothing. The only thing I did was to c{#blank#}7{#/blank#} my bad habits. I stopped drinking things with too much sugar in them, refused sweet cakes and eat green vegetables. I only used vegetable oil and never ate a{#blank#}8{#/blank#}6:30 pm. Also, do light exercise for 15 to 20 minutes five every day.

    Importantly, I have kept doing these things. People sometimes say, “You don't n{#blank#}9{#/blank#} to tell me what to do. I know it already! But the fact is that k{#blank#}10{#/blank#} what to do and doing what you know are totally different. The important thing is to know what to do and then just keep doing it.
