Jimmy lives in London and he began to swim a few months ago. He 1 swimming, and he often goes to the swimming pool near his 2 with his mother and swims there for 3 or two.

    You think in the way you do things. If you don' t give your hundred percent(百分之百) in a relationship, you'll 9 keep thinking if the other person has given his or her hundred percent. This is true for any relationship.

    Give your hundred percent to everything you do and you'll find that you can always10a lot of happiness.

    David is a middle school student. He lived in a small 1 for fifteen years. His father, Mr. Hill, was a rich farmer and later on he 2 a shop in our town. He bought a house here last month. His 3 moved to the new house and his son began to study in our class. But he had a few 4 here. At first he often played by 5.

    His neighbor Cathy is a kind girl. She has many friends. She finds the boy never talks with anybody and decides to help him. David 6 to stay with her and talks to her a lot. Now they're good friends.

    One afternoon, Cathy told David. "It'll be my sixteenth birthday tomorrow, I'll have a birthday party. Will you come please?

    "Certainly. I'm glad to," the boy said 7.

    David got home and thought of a 8 he could give to Cathy. He was sorry that he 9 to ask the girl what she liked. He couldn't 10 her because he didn't know her telephone number. At that moment Mrs. Hill came and asked, "What's the matter, dear?"

    "What would you like if it was your sixteenth birthday, Mummy?"

    "Nothing, "the woman said, "I just wish I were 16.

It was the last day of school and I planned to travel to my 1  home town. I hadn't seen him for years and this was a good 2  to meet him again.

I was busy at school 3  it was rather late when I came back home. It was already o'clock at night. 4  was running out. After a hurried meal, I left. 5  , I found a taxi very soon. Asking the driver to drive me 6  to the station, I relaxed for a while, imagining what my friend 7 now. I was soon at the station and was sure that I would be able to 8 the train. However, I fell on the way and lost some time. To my complete 9  , when I reached the platform, I saw that the train had just left! It was the last train, so I had to 10  home. How terrible my day was! I even wanted to cry.

My mother was glad to see me back as she had a bad feeling about my 11  . But I was unhappy. I tried to relax 12  and went to bed, but I had a bad night's sleep. The next morning I was very tired. As I was having some bread 13  breakfast, the newspaper arrived. I read over the pages and was shocked to 14  that the train I missed had an accident. How 15  I was that I missed the train!

Jenny was a nurse in a children's hospital. One evening there was a big dance in the hospital, Most of the doctors and nurses would be there, but of course some had to look after the children. Jenny was not among the fortunate (幸运的) ones who were free to go to the dance. She enjoyed dancing very much, so when she had to start working that evening while her friends were getting ready to go to the dance, she felt very sorry for herself. She went to each sick child one by one and said good night. She came to a little boy called Tommy in the end. Tommy was only 11 years old, but he already talked like an adult. Poor Tommy had a very serious illness, and now he could hardly move any part of his body except his hands. But he was happy and thought about others instead of himself all the time. 

When Jenny came up to his bed, he said, "I'm sorry that you have to miss the dance because of us. But we are going to have a party for you. If you look in my drawer, you'll find a piece of cake. I saved it from my supper today, so it's pretty fresh." "I'd get up and dance with you if I could," he added. 

Suddenly the hospital dance seemed very far away and not at all important to Jenny.
