It was a sunny day last Sunday. Liu Mei went shopping with her mother. On her way to the shop, they met (遇见)an old woman. The old woman wanted to see her husband (丈夫).He had a flu and was ill in hospital. But she did not know the way to the hospital. Liu Mei asked a policeman.He told (告诉)her to take the No. 11 bus. Liu Mei went with the old woman to the hospital andher mother went shopping by herself. Forty minutes later, the old woman saw herhusband. Liu Mei left the hospital and went to the bookstore. She did not waitfor their thanks.

It's warm in spring. The trees turn green and the flowers start to grow. I often go boating in the park. In summer, the weather is very hot and it often rains. I often go swimming with my friends. In autumn, the days get shorter and the nights get longer. It's often sunny, but not too hot. I like winter best. In winter. the days are short and the nights are lon9. It's not very col D. I often go jogging after school.

    Most people have flown a kite or have seen one ride and dip(下降）in strong spring wind. Not so many people know that kites were first made in China thousands of years ago. The ancient Chinese were making and flying kites even before they were writing.

    A long time ago, the Chinese made kites to use in wars. They would fly these war kites in the dark. The kites were fixed(固定）so that they made strange sounds. Men at war would hear these sounds and run away. They thought those strange sounds were made by gods in the sky.

    The ancient Chinese also flew kites to bring good luck and to make their crops grow rich and tall. Sometimes they tied long strings(细绳）and hooks(钩) to their kites. Then they would fly the kites over water, letting the hooks hang down to catch fish.

    The Chinese use sticks(树枝), strings and paper for their kites. Some of these kites look like animals or trees. Others look like birds or houses.

    Mike's school sent him an invitation.

    It is time to leave our school. We are all going to middle school soon, so we will say goodbye to each other. We are going to have a farewell party. You can bring your friends.

    It's February. The Spring Festival is coming soon. People are very busy. Before the Spring Festival people like cleaning their houses. They always decorate (装饰) their houses in red. During this festival, people usually do a lot of shopping. Parents buy new clothes for their children. All the family members will get together and have big meals. Children are very happy, because they have no school at the Spring Festival. They visit relatives (亲戚) and friends. They play games and have great fun. They are very excited (兴奋的) because they can get lucky money(压岁钱) from adults (成年人). Everyone likes the Spring Festival.
