Do you use WeChat or QQ to chat with your friends? If yes, then you must be a user of memes(表情包), too. Memes are now an important part of online chatting among Chinese.

Memes can be pictures of GIFs. They are usually of stars, TV and film scenes or animated images(动画形象). There is often a line of text in a meme. It explains the picture.

The memes of singer Huang Zitao are very popular. Huang runs and says his famous line, "I will not easily go die."

These people have exaggerated(夸张的)facial expressions. Users make memes of them for fun. On the other hand, memes can give people information in an easy, funny way.

Royal party in the UK

On May 19, a grand event took place in the UK. At noon that day, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were married at St George's Chapel at Windsor Castle.

About 100, 000 people went there to witness the union of the now Duke (公爵) and Duchess of Sussex. As Harry and Meghan were pronounced husband and wife in the chapel, the crowd outside cheered so loud that the people inside could hear it!

Those who couldn't attend the wedding in person watched the royal wedding live on TV. They also organized garden or street parties to celebrate, laying out long tables along the streets and inviting neighbors to come and dance. Many people wore masks that looked like Harry and Meghan while they danced.

Although it has no say in any political matters, the Royal Family is an important symbol of the UK. A recent survey shows that 40 percent of UK citizens support the royals; while 20 percent don't and the other 40 percent are in the middle.

________ Most countries' leaders are not passed on by inheritance (世袭)—that is to say, if you were born into a royal family, you are a prince or princess. However, others dislike the royal family because they think that a life of luxury and wealth should be earned by effort, not because you were born into it.

In my eyes, the royal wedding brought the British people together. It was like a Cinderella story come true. It was also a great excuse to party, have fun and enjoy the sun!

Do you know which social app is popular with Chinese young people now? "Short videos"are certainly the most popular. A large number of young people use Tik Tok(抖音) and Kuaishou. They think it is fun to share their lives by short videos, while others have other purposes as well.

A 12-year-old user named Elsa has about 2.7 million fans on Tik Tok. The girl has shared her dancing studies on Tik Tok since last July. One of the videos won her about one million fans."I feel really glad to share happiness with people by short videos, " said Elsa.

To some other young people, they use short videos to have a quick look at the hot programmes. "Because I don't like to spend many hours watching a whole programme, I hate waiting for a programme to end, and I prefer to watch short videos of wonderful parts of hot programmes, " said Wang Zhihao.

However, some young people feel bored with short videos."Killing time is the main reason for me to watch short videos, and many short videos are almost the same, so I think they are not so useful or interesting. What's more, I really don't like the videos about odd and dangerous things, " said Wen Nan, another college student.

Recently, something else has appeared. Some videos tell people what products are worth buying. Some short videos even sell bad products, and it is hard for customers to get their money back. So we should think twice before we want to buy the products by short videos.
