Lots of us have dreams of doing big business when we grow up. However, Moziah Bridges, a 14-year-old boy in the US, is now the CEO of his own company. He {#blank#}1{#/blank#}   ( sell) $200,000 bow ties(领结) since 2011.

 One day about four years ago, when Moziah  {#blank#}2{#/blank#} (shop) for bow ties, he found they were only in "ugly" black and red. He wanted a change. So he asked his grandma {#blank#}3{#/blank#}  (teach) him how to sew（缝）. and finally developed the talent of creating bow ties. However, his first bow tie{#blank#}4{#/blank#}   (not look) nice. The boy never gave up and kept on{#blank#}5{#/blank#}  (practice). He used colorful cloth with different pictures. His parents and friends started to like his bow ties. Then he tried to sell them online to several stores in the south. Moziah's bow ties soon {#blank#}6{#/blank#}  (become) popular.

 Now his business has increased quickly. As Bridges' mother said, "You don't have to wait until you're older. If you{#blank#}7{#/blank#} (have) a dream, just go for it."

 My Day

    I usually {#blank#}1{#/blank#} {#blank#}2{#/blank#}（起床）at 6:30. I have breakfast {#blank#}3{#/blank#} (在) seven o'clock. After breakfast, I {#blank#}4{#/blank#} {#blank#}5{#/blank#} {#blank#}6{#/blank#}（洗澡）and then I {#blank#}7{#/blank#} {#blank#}8{#/blank#} {#blank#}9{#/blank#}（上学）at 7:30. I get to school at 7:40. I have five classes in the morning. And then I {#blank#}10{#/blank#} {#blank#}11{#/blank#} (吃午饭) at 12:00. In the afternoon, I have two classes. I {#blank#}12{#/blank#} {#blank#}13{#/blank#}（回家）at 6:20. I get home at 6:3 0 p.m. I {#blank#}14{#/blank#} {#blank#}15{#/blank#}（吃晚饭） at about 7:00. After dinner, I do my homework(做作业). I g o to bed（睡觉）at 10:00. I am very busy（繁忙的） and happy every day.

    Eric and Chen first met in their Math class at an American college. Chen was an international student f{#blank#}1{#/blank#} China. He wanted to learn about American culture and hoped he and Eric would become good friends. At first, Eric seemed f{#blank#}2{#/blank#}. He always greeted Chen warmly before class. Sometimes he offered to study with Chen. He even i{#blank#}3{#/blank#} Chen to eat lunch with him. But after the term was over and they were in different classes, Eric seemed more distant. They didn't s{#blank#}4{#/blank#} each other very much at college. One day Chen called Eric, But Eric didn't seem very interested in talking to him, Chen was h{#blank#}5{#/blank#} by Eric's change of attitude（态度）. "Eric said we were friends." Chen said. "I thought friends were friends forever. As a foreigner, he doesn't understand the way Americans view friendship.

    Americans use the word "friend" in a very general way. Their friendship is based on common i{#blank#}6{#/blank#}. When the shared activity ends and they have no the same interests, the friendship may die. Now as Eric and Chen are no longer c{#blank#}7{#/blank#}, their "friendship" has changed.

    In some culture's friendship m{#blank#}8{#/blank#} a strong life-long tie between two people—friendship develops slowly, since it is built to last. American friendship develops q{#blank#}9{#/blank#}, and it may change just as quickly.

    Learning how Americans view friendship can help non-Americans remove misunderstandings（误解）. It can h{#blank#}10{#/blank#} them make friends in the American way.

Millie: Do you know Richard Clayderman?

Kate: Of course. He is one of the most famous pianists in the world. I can also play {#blank#}1{#/blank#} his works.

Millie: Really? How long have you learnt to play the piano?

Kate: Since I was five years old. My teacher thought I {#blank#}2{#/blank#} playing the piano. I was so excited that I practice hard. My teacher also {#blank#}3{#/blank#} me to take part in some activities to show myself.

FAJTHFUL（忠诚的）TO DEATH

    Some time ago, a fire broke out(爆发) in a building late at night. Nearly all the families were s{#blank#}1{#/blank#} inside the house. After the firemen came, they rushed into the burning building and saved the people to the safe p{#blank#}2{#/blank#}.

    The crowds thought a{#blank#}3{#/blank#} the people were safe. But it was not so. Two little orphan （孤儿) girls were still asleep alone at the very top of the building, in a small room. N{#blank#}4{#/blank#} . thought of them. Luckily, they lived with a dog.

    The dog tried to wake them up, but f{#blank#}5{#/blank#}. He ran to the window and barked(吠叫) loudly for help. B{#blank#}6{#/blank#} no one noticed him. Then he climbed down the ladder (梯子) and tried to pull a fireman to the ladder. The fireman kicked him away, thinking he was mad. Then the dog ran to a{#blank#}7{#/blank#} fireman, jumped on him, ran to the ladder, barking all the time and looking back as if he was asking the fireman to follow him.

    This fireman realized there must be someone in the little room, as the dog was acting so strangely. So he followed the dog u{#blank#}8{#/blank#}the ladder, there he saw the two girls and saved them.

    Where was the d{#blank#}9{#/blank#}? A brave fireman rushed into the room to look for him and found him lying near the window, choked (窒息) with smoke. He brought him down with care, but he was already d{#blank#}10{#/blank#}. He had given his life for his friends. What a faithful friend!

    Joe was over seventy years old. He lived alone in a small village after his wife died. His grandchildren often visited him during the holidays. That was the only fun time he had.

    Once, he{#blank#}1{#/blank#} the whole house to welcome his grandchildren. After he finished cleaning he barn (谷仓), he found he lost his watch. It was {#blank#}2{#/blank#} from his wife when their first child was born. Joe loved the watch very much, especially after his wife died. He was very upset about losing it. When his grandchildren came, they found their grandfather was very{#blank#}3{#/blank#}, they asked him what was wrong. Joe told them that hat he couldn't {#blank#}4{#/blank#} his watch. The children wanted to help him. They asked Joe when he had last seen his watch. Joe told them he lost it {#blank#}5{#/blank#}he was cleaning the barn. The children searched {#blank#}6{#/blank#} two hours, but couldn't find anything .Then, one of the children asked the others to leave and said he would find the watch by {#blank#}7{#/blank#}. Minutes later, the child brought he watch back. Joe and other children wanted to know how he did it. The boy said, "I sat in the barn {#blank#}8{#/blank#}. Then I heard a "tick—tick' sound and found {#blank#}9{#/blank#}watch." 'Joe hugged the little boy and thanked him. That is the power of quietness. If we stay quiet, we might find {#blank#}10{#/blank#} to solve problems more easily.
