I had a very unusual experience on{#blank#}1{#/blank#} （星期天）。At around ten   o'clock in the morning, I was walking down the street when a UFO landed in f{#blank#}2{#/blank#}  of me. You can imagine how{#blank#}3{#/blank#} （奇怪的）it was! An alien got out and walked down the Center Street. I {#blank#}4{#/blank#} （跟随）it to see where it was going, and I was very surprised when it went into a souvenir shop. While it was looking at the souvenirs, the assistant called the p{#blank#}5{#/blank#} .

Tang Ling often smoked cigarettes(香烟) in his school's washing room. He {#blank#}1{#/blank#} smoking at the age of 14. One day he learnt that the NBA star Yao Ming, an ambassador(大使) to the Chinese Association on Tobacco Control (中国控烟协会), asked people not to smoke. Yao Ming was Tang's favorite star, and his words meant a lot to him. He decided to give up {#blank#}2{#/blank#} .
According to the Chinese Association on Tobacco Control, about 350 million Chinese smoke. Among them, 50 million are teenagers. Sun Jiangping of Beijing University said, “ Teenagers can get cigarettes {#blank#}3{#/blank#} , especially when their parents smoke or shops sell cigarettes to them. It's very important for parents to help their children {#blank#}4{#/blank#} smoking.”
A 15-year-old boy {#blank#}5{#/blank#} Li Kun from Beijing said his parents didn't smoke. Because they {#blank#}6{#/blank#} smoking could make people feel {#blank#}7{#/blank#} ill, they only {#blank#}8{#/blank#} him to play with friends without smoking. {#blank#}9{#/blank#} in such a good family helped Li say no to cigarettes. Some of his smoking classmates once told Li that smoking made boys look cool, but Li disagreed. He said, “Smoking is {#blank#}10{#/blank#} and it's not cool at all. Please stop smoking now!”

   Hangzhouhua (杭州话)：use it or lose it
   There are about 6.000 languages in the world and some experts say that as many as half of these languages will disappear(消失) in the next one hundred years. Will Hangzhouhua be one of {#blank#}1{#/blank#} ? It's a {#blank#}2{#/blank#}  that more people are asking.
   In China, Putonghua is the official language. That {#blank#}3{#/blank#}  it's the language of government, business and the media (媒体). And it's also the language that is{#blank#}4{#/blank#}  in schools.
   Hangzhou is a special city. It used to be the capital of Wu and Yue States in the 10th century during the Five Dynasties period. Now it is modern, fashionable and also beautiful. And Hangzhouhua shows that by being modern, fashionable and beautiful.
   Young people still speak Hangzhouhua but not as {#blank#}5{#/blank#}  as their parents and grandparents. They are under more and more pressure to speak Putonghua. So the language is being used{#blank#}6{#/blank#}  often in everyday life. Some people want to keep the language from disappearing completely {#blank#}7{#/blank#}  building museums and having cultural festivals to save it. But a language isn't a painting {#blank#}8{#/blank#} a book. It's a living thing and you {#blank#}9{#/blank#}  use it or lose it.
   If people {#blank#}10{#/blank#}  using it in their daily lives, a museum or a festival will not help. It will be lost forever, like the Yangtze River dolphin.

    Some people like shopping online. They{#blank#}1{#/blank#} clothes, books or computers on it. Like many other clever Chinese, Wu Songzhi is shopping online, too. "My family and I {#blank#}2{#/blank#} to eat tomatoes, broccoli, lettuce and{#blank#}3{#/blank#} so I want to buy organic (有机的) ones. Said Wu. “They are{#blank#}4{#/blank#}and I don't have to wash them so many times. Every month, Wu {#blank#}5{#/blank#} about 600 Yuan on organic vegetables and meat on online organic shop. There are many people in Beijing{#blank#}6{#/blank#}like Wu. They are eating and buying organic food. People buy organic food because they want to be more{#blank#}7{#/blank#}. They also want to know about their food.

    My family makes the best chicken salad. Dad prepares all of the ingredients and Mom makes the relish. There{#blank#}1{#/blank#}a few things that make this chicken salad different from other chicken salad. First, we use fruit jam in the relish. You can buy any fruit jam, like banana jam or orange jam. But we have bottles of strawberry jam that my mother made, so we use strawberry jam. {#blank#}2{#/blank#}(two), we put some green olives(橄榄). Green olives give the salad{#blank#}3{#/blank#}interesting taste and make a big{#blank#}4{#/blank#}(different). Now let me tell you how{#blank#}5{#/blank#} (make)the salad.

    First, mix{#blank#}6{#/blank#}all of the salad ingredients in a large bowl. The ingredients are{#blank#}7{#/blank#}(chicken), tomatoes, green olives, onions and apples. {#blank#}8{#/blank#}you like lettuce, you can also put some. Next, make the relish. Please mix the jam, the juice and the salt. Finally, mix the relish with the salad ingredients.
