A jobless man wanted very much to have the position of “office boy” at Microsoft. The HR manager interviewed(面试) him and then watched him cleaning the floor as a test. “You have passed the test,” he said. “Give me your e-mail address and I'll send you the form（表格） to fill in and the date when you may start.” The man replied, “But I don't have a computer, neither an e-mail.” “I'm sorry,” said the HR manager. “If you don't have an e-mail, that means you are not living. And anyone who isn't living cannot have the job.”

    The man left with no hope at all. He didn't know what to do with only $10 in his pocket. He thought and thought. Then he went to the supermarket and bought 10 kilos of tomatoes. He sold the tomatoes from door to door. In less than two hours, he had 20 dollars. He did that three times, and started to go early every day, and returned home late. Shortly, he bought a cart , then a truck, then he had his own fleet of delivery vehicles(运货车队). Five years later, the man was one of the biggest food retailers (零售商)  in the US.

    One day, one of his friends asked him for his e-mail. He said, “I haven't got one.” His friend couldn't believe his ears. “Can you imagine what you could have been if you had an e-mail?” The man thought for a while and replied, “Yes, I'd be an office boy at Microsoft!”

Tom came to his teacher and asked him, "Sir, I have a question. How many friends should a person have-one or many?"

After getting the apple, the teacher asked, "So, do you understand how many friends a person needs?"

"Yes, I do," Tom said. "Many, so together we can work out any problem."

"Sounds good," the teacher said. "You need as many friends as you can. Among them, there will be at least one smart person who can think of a good idea, like getting a ladder!"

 The Confucius Institute(孔子学院) helps make African young people's dream come true. The{#blank#}1{#/blank#}(story) of Meheta and Krishna are examples. 

 Meheta, a girl from Mussoorie, is thankful to the CI. It is the starting point for all her dreams. Her parents always asked her {#blank#}2{#/blank#}(learn) Chinese at the CI. Meheta got a chance to visit China{#blank#}3{#/blank#} she studied there. And she entered the Chinese Bridge, a competition for foreign college students. She was the {#blank#}4{#/blank#}(one) African to make it to the final(决赛). After that, her life has changed. 

Krishna, from Kenya, is {#blank#}5{#/blank#} fan of Chinese kung fu films and lion dance. So far, he has studied Chinese at the CI for nearly two years. He {#blank#}6{#/blank#} (join) the Chinese kung fu club. After that he got the chance to travel to China {#blank#}7{#/blank#} a summer camp program. "I never thought one day I would be able to visit China. That was {#blank#}8{#/blank#}(happy) moment of my life, " he said. 

 Chinese is very popular in Africa. In recent years, the number of students at the CI has increased a lot. Learning Chinese gives {#blank#}9{#/blank#} (they) more chances. Many young people can go to China to experience a different life. They can {#blank#}10{#/blank#} (easy) get jobs in their countries. 

 The CI creates possibilities for students and helps to develop the friendly cultural exchanges between China and Africa. 

Swifts（雨燕）live mostly in the air. These small birds are among the fastest animals on Earth. In fact, swifts can fly two or three days without touching the ground! To get used to life in the sky, swifts use their speed and the saliva（唾液）in their mouths. 

Swifts can fly faster than 100 miles per hour. That's because their wings are like boomerangs（回力镖）. This shape of the wings helps them to fly fast. They can also move one wing faster than the other, which allows them to make sharp turns without slowing down. Making fast, sharp turns helps swifts catch flying bugs to eat. 

The saliva helps swifts catch bugs to feed their young. It is sticky, like glue. Swifts often fly into clouds of bugs such as mosquitoes and open their wide mouths to catch as many insects as they can. The bird collects insects in its mouth gradually and holds the insects in a sticky ball of saliva. One food ball can contain （包含）nearly 1, 000 bugs. 

Swifts also use their saliva as glue to build their nests. The birds catch feathers in the air and stick the feathers together to build a strong nest. Swifts' short feet are not fit for walking or standing on land for long. But their sharp claws allow them to stick to rocks and walls so they can take a short rest before returning to the sky.
