Charlotte Kelly shares how she celebrated Father's Day with her father, astronaut Scott Kelly:
I am on the summer break from school right now. {#blank#}1{#/blank#} school ended, my dad set up a video conference(视频会议) with my class. All of the kids really {#blank#}2{#/blank#} seeing him and asking him questions about space. I couldn't help laughing when I saw him eat a piece of floating(漂浮的) strawberry {#blank#}3{#/blank#}. Two days ago, my mom and I went to a party with my {#blank#}4{#/blank#} Holly and her family. Just around 9:10 pm, we were all able to {#blank#}5{#/blank#} at the night sky and see the International Space Station(国际空间站) fly over. Today is Father's Day. My sister and I were able to do a video conference with our dad at the {#blank#}8{#/blank#} time. She was in Houston, I was in Virginia Beach and my dad was flying over us! Really! He was {#blank#}9{#/blank#} flying over us. He put his video monitor(视频监视器)in his window and took a picture of Virginia Beach from {#blank#}10{#/blank#}. How wonderful!
Why do we play sports? You might say “to get exercise” and you'd be right. To have fun? That's true, too. But there's more. {#blank#}1{#/blank#} According to a study, girls who play sports get a lot more than just fit.
Girls who play sports do better in school. You might think that playing sports will take up all your study time. {#blank#}2{#/blank#} Exercise improves learning, and memory, which can give active girls an advantage in the classroom.
Girls who play sports learn teamwork and goal-setting skills. {#blank#}3{#/blank#} When you work with coaches, trainers, and teammates to win games and achieve goals, you're learning how to be successful. Those skills will serve you well at work and in family life.
Playing sports improves self-confidence. {#blank#}4{#/blank#} Why? It builds confidence when you know you can practice, improve, and achieve your goals. Sports are also a feel-good activity because they help girls get in shape, keep a healthy weight, and make new friends.
{#blank#}5{#/blank#} Playing sports can reduce stress and help you feel a little happier. How? The brain chemicals released during exercise improve a person's mood. Friends are another mood-lifter.And being on a team creates tight bonds between friends. It's good to know your teammates will support you-both on and off the field!
