Mr Smith lived by the sea. He had a big family and he had to work hard, or  his wife and children would be{#blank#}1{#/blank#} . So he had to get up early every day. After breakfast he set out in a small boat. He always hoped to{#blank#}2{#/blank#} . 
     One morning the man got to a good place for fishing.  He threw a long rope with many hooks（钩子）into the water. He found it very{#blank#}3{#/blank#} and pulled the hooks out of the sea. He saw there were some gold chains（链子. He , of course, was very {#blank#}4{#/blank#} . 
    “I'll {#blank#}5{#/blank#}  for a lot of money ,” he thought to himself.“I'll build a new house and buy expensive things. I'll be the {#blank#}6{#/blank#} man in the world!”
    Mr. Smith went on drawing his rope and didn't notice what was happening to his boat. It began to{#blank#}7{#/blank#} . As he was pulling the gold chains, the boat sank into the sea. He lost not only the gold chains ,but also {#blank#}8{#/blank#} !

A train {#blank#}1{#/blank#} at a small station. A man looked out of the window and {#blank#}2{#/blank#} a woman selling cakes. People from the train were {#blank#}3{#/blank#} them. The man wanted to buy one, but the woman was standing far {#blank#}4{#/blank#} the train. Suddenly he saw a boy walking past him. “Come here, boy!” the man said, “How much is the cake, do you know?” “One yuan for each,” the boy answered.

The man gave the boy two yuan and {#blank#}5{#/blank#}   him to buy two cakes. “One for me and the other for you.” he said to the boy. In a minute, the boy came back. He was eating a cake. He gave the man one yuan and said. “There are only one cake.”
