A hundred years ago, most people thought that human beings would never fly. And the idea of flying seemed crazy and dangerous. But as a new world full of new inventions（发明物）came, everyone was trying to break the old thoughts. So many inventors, like Orville and Wilbur Wright, tried to make a flying thing.

    Most plane inventors at that time were impulsive. They would think of an idea, make a plane as quickly as they could, and then try to fly it as soon as possible. All of them had the same result they took their planes home and they had no idea why they didn't work.

    However, the Wright brothers were much smarter inventors. They tested their ideas in smaller or safer ones before making a real plane. For example, the Wright brothers made a wind tunnel(隧道)to compare(比较)wing shape ideas. They also flew lots of kites to test their ideas. They studied the way birds fly through the air and tried to learn something from it when making their models. Finally, the Wright brothers felt they were ready to test their planes, but they needed to find the right place. They knew the right place to test their planes after writing to the US Weather Bureau for help. At last on December 17th, 1903, Orville and Wilbur tested the plane and they made it.

    The plane flied for twelve seconds and it traveled just 120 feet, but Orville and Wilbur were very happy. Their plane really worked! By the end of the day, both brothers had great successful flights(飞行), with Wilbur having a record of 852 feet in 59 seconds.

    As space science develops, man has learned more and more about space. Space is not only amazing but also dangerous. While working in space, spacemen are facing danger.

    Scientists have found out that radiation(辐射) is the greatest danger to spacemen in space. When spacemen are working in space, they are in danger of radiation from the sun and other stars, which is bad for their health. Some special medicine may work a little, but there's no really helpful medicine.

    Space junk is also thought a great danger to spacemen. It's reported that there are 9,000 man-made things flying in space. About 30% of these are man-made satellites(卫星),10% are spaceships, and the rest are space junk. An explosion(爆炸) in 1996 made a cloud of 300,000 fragments(碎片), each at least 4 mm in size, and even a small piece of these knocked against a spaceship window and did some damage. Scientists are working on helpful ways to do with space junk.

    Although space is really dangerous, it interests everyone on the earth. In the near future, it may become usual for people to spend a few days in a space hotel. We may even choose to leave the earth and live in space for a few years. So we should care for space and do something to help improve the space environment.

    When you are waiting for a bus at a station, a 31-metre-long bus is coming to you. You must be surprised. In fact, the 31-metre-long bus is the longest bus in the world. And the bus comes from Germany. An ordinary bus is only about 10 metres long and it can carry only 80 people once. But the longest bus can carry 256 people. So we will need fewer buses in the future. The longest bus can save energy, too. That's to say, it will take less energy than an ordinary bus. Moreover, the driver can drive the longest bus as easily as an ordinary one.

    However, firstly, it has to spend $ 10, 000, 000 buying the longest bus. Someone jokes that we can buy a lot of ordinary buses with that money. Secondly, people think that it is hard for the longest bus to travel on the bustling streets. It may cause new traffic problems. Thirdly, it is easy for someone to get onto the bus without buying a ticket.
