John works hard b{#blank#}1{#/blank#} he is still poor. He is very sad all day. One day when he comes home f{#blank#}2{#/blank#} work, he sees his daughter in the sitting room. She is playing with a roll of colourful wrapping paper. John gets angry. "Where is the p{#blank#}3{#/blank#} from?" John asks. "I bought it with my pocket money yesterday," the girl a{#blank#}4{#/blank#}. "You won't get m{#blank#}5{#/blank#} from me anymore!" John says and goes into his room.

    A few days later, it's Christmas Day. The girl brings a little box in colourful paper to her father and says, "Dad, this is for you." The father is surprised to see the colourful box. He f{#blank#}6{#/blank#} sorry for his anger that day. He touches the girl's head and opens the box. He becomes angry again w{#blank#}7{#/blank#} he finds nothing inside. "Why is it empty? Are you playing a t{#blank#}8{#/blank#} on me?" the angry father asks. "No, Dad. It's not empty. I put many kisses in the box. All for you, Dad." John has nothing to say. He puts his a{#blank#}9{#/blank#} around his little girl and says, "Sorry, my dear. Please forgive me."

    From then on, John always keeps the box beside his bed. When he feels sad, he will take a kiss out of the box and remember the love of his d{#blank#}10{#/blank#}.  （改编于读本）

    A research team did an experiment (实验) with two {#blank#}6{#/blank#}(组) of students from different US universities. One group pretended(假装) they {#blank#}7{#/blank#}. (只有) had 30 days left before moving to a new city. They did lots of activities and {#blank#}8{#/blank#}(度过) time with people they loved. In other words, they had a YOLO lifestyle. Another group went on living {#blank#}9{#/blank#}(他们的) normal lives.

    At the end of the experiment, the students did a survey to find out how happy they were. It {#blank#}10{#/blank#}(显示) that the first group were much happier.

    The study shows that being active and making close friendships are important for us to enjoy our lives.

    The dream is the same for everyone; actors, dancers, singers, filmmakers. They go to Hollywood looking for money, s {#blank#}1{#/blank#} , fame and power. And many come to Hollywood as young people, barely out of their teens. But Hollywood can be a d {#blank#}2{#/blank#} place, and some of Hollywood's heroes even lose their lives because of it.

    But although they die young they are heroes forever. One such hero was James Dean. Dean once said "Dream as if you'll live forever; live as if you'll die t {#blank#}3{#/blank#} ". Arriving in Hollywood as a young man, James Dean quickly became a star. In the film Rebel Without a Cause. Dean showed teenage angst at its best, and he captured the world with his casual style and rebellious(反抗的)attitude. It was an attitude that he held both on-screen and off, and teenagers everywhere found a hero they could both respect and admire. Soon, he was more p {#blank#}4{#/blank#} than even his own screen idol, Marlon Brando, and he was nicknamed America's Rebel by Ronald Reagan.

    As a rebel(反叛者). Dean was afraid of a {#blank#}5{#/blank#} . Before famous, he worked as a stuntman(特技演员)for a TV show. Dean loved his car, a silver Porsche 550 Spyder, and it was in this car that on September 30, 1955, Dean crashed and died from his injuries. He was just twenty-four years old. Even though his career in Hollywood was short, he only made three films, he made a lasting impression on everybody who w {#blank#}6{#/blank#} him, and even on future generations. James Dean will be forever young.
