Many people like to keep pets. Dogs and cats are very  {#blank#}1{#/blank#}   pets. Some people, however, keep birds or goldfish. They need less space and are easier to look after.　　

 If you want to have a pet, you can buy one from a pet  {#blank#}2{#/blank#}    but you must be careful not to buy a sick animal. It is best if you know something about the pet you want. This helps you choose a healthy pet. However, if you do not have much money and know very {#blank#}3{#/blank#}  about animals, you can visit the Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals(皇家防止虐待动物协会).

 The first RSPCA was established in England in 1821. It was set up to make sure that all animals are {#blank#}4{#/blank#}  with kindness. The RSPCA in Hong Kong carries out this aim. The RSPCA officers collect animals which have no {#blank#}5{#/blank#}   and are left in the street. They look after them {#blank#}6{#/blank#}  they are healthy again. People visiting the RSPCA may choose their pets from these animals and you can be sure that you will get a  {#blank#}7{#/blank#}    pet. If later your pet becomes ill, you can  {#blank#}8{#/blank#}  it to the doctors at the RSPCA for treatment.

 When you have a pet, it is very {#blank#}9{#/blank#}   that you look after it properly. You must remember to feed it on time. You should also give it a {#blank#}10{#/blank#}  and comfortable place to rest. Your pet will be happy and healthy if you love it and care for it properly.

            I work as a volunteer for an organization that helps the poor in Haiti. Recently I took my son Barrett there for a week, hoping to  1  him. Before setting out, I told Barrett this trip would be tiring and   2  . For the first two days, he said almost nothing. I worried the trip was too much for a 17-year-old boy. Then on day three, as we were climbing  3    high rocky mountains, he turned to me and grinned (咧嘴笑), "Pretty hard."

    After that there was no turning back. A five-year-old girl, wearing a dress several sizes   4  large and broken shoes, followed Barrett around, mesmerized (着迷). He couldn't stop   5   . Later he said regretfully . "I   6   I could speak French." I was  7－this from a boy who hated and    8   French classes throughout school.

       Usually silent, he made friends with Gaby, our host, and kept asking questions about the country and its people. He came alive

      However, the moment that really took 9    breath away happened during my interview with a woman villager for an article at her house deep in the mountains. 135 centimeters tall, she was small in figure but strong in 10  . Through determination(决心), she had learned to read and write and 11  to become part of the leadership of the village .    her story, Barrett was as touched as I by this tiny woman's achievements. His eyes were wet and 12  was a mixture of love and respect on his face. He had finally understood the importance of my work.  13       When leaving for home, Barrett  13offered to stay behind as a volunteer. My insides suddenly felt struck. This   14  achieved all I'd expected. Soon he will celebrate his 18th birthday. He'll be a man.

    A group of frogs(青蛙) were traveling through the forest, but unluckily two of {#blank#}1{#/blank#} fell into a hole. The other frogs tried to help them. When they saw how deep the {#blank#}2{#/blank#} was , they cried to the two frogs that they could not be saved. The two frogs didn't care and tried their {#blank#}3{#/blank#}to jump up out of the hole. The other frogs kept {#blank#}4{#/blank#}that they were sure to die. Finally, one of the two {#blank#}5{#/blank#}heard what the other frogs were saying and gave up. Then he fell {#blank#}6{#/blank#}and died.

    However, the other frog {#blank#}7{#/blank#}to jump as hard as he could.{#blank#}8{#/blank#} last, he made it out. When he got out, the other frogs asked, "Did you hear us?" The frog, who had a {#blank#}9{#/blank#}hearing, explained, "I thought you were encouraging me all the time."

    The story teaches us a lesson: There is power of life and death in the tongue(言语）.An encouraging word to those who are down can help them out {#blank#}10{#/blank#}a discouraging word can kill them.

    Robots have a long history. The first one was made by a Greek inventor(希腊发明家).

    You may see robots in some movies. The robots in these movies are stronger, {#blank#}1{#/blank#}and cleverer than people. In real life, most robots are used in factories. They do many dangerous, {#blank#}2{#/blank#} or boring jobs.

    Some people can't look after {#blank#}3{#/blank#}and robots are used to help them. For example, some people can't see, so they use a dog {#blank#}4{#/blank#}themselves move around. This dog is called a guide dog, Scientists are {#blank#}5{#/blank#} a robot to help them. In the future, robots might take the place of (代替) these dogs.

    Robots are {#blank#}6{#/blank#}used in hospitals, In one hospital, a robot {#blank#}7{#/blank#}meals from kitchen to the sick people's rooms, It never loses {#blank#}8{#/blank#}way because it has a map of the hospital in its computer systems(系统).

    In the future, robots will {#blank#}9{#/blank#}in space, But robots will never take the place of human, they can, however, help {#blank#}10{#/blank#} in a lot of different ways.

    Today is March 5^th. It is my birthday. I get a lot of{#blank#}1{#/blank#}from my friends and family.

    They are in the{#blank#}2{#/blank#}boxes. My father gives me a yellow box and there is a book in it. My mother says, “It's our present for you, {#blank#}3{#/blank#}it's good for you.” Jack, one of my friends, gives me a small box. {#blank#}4{#/blank#}is in it? There's a pen. My sister gives me a round box. I think it is a big cake, {#blank#}5{#/blank#}it is a football. I like playing football very much, so I am happy to have it. My uncle gives me a big red box. I open it and find{#blank#}6{#/blank#}box in it. What colour is this box? It's green. I open the small box and find a piece of paper in it. It says,” Go to your bedroom, then you'll see a black box. Your{#blank#}7{#/blank#}present is in it.” I go to my bedroom and{#blank#}8{#/blank#}the box on the table. Then I open it. I am very happy to find a radio in it！
