"Color, color, color!"are the words of artist Eric Carle. Eric is like the king in the world of children's books. He has written over 70 children's books. His most famous book, The Very Hungry Caterpillar, is common on children's bookshelves all over the world. What most people don't know is that Eric also makes art for adults, which is called"ArtArt". People didn't know about it,because he didn't show it to the public until he was 84 years old!

Like Eric's children's books, his"ArtArt"is full of bright and clear color.He says that he loves color so much because he missed it during the war in Germany. Eric was born in New York in 1929, but moved to Germany with his family when he was 6. When he was 10, World War II began. He noticed that all the houses and buildings in his town were painted gray, brown or dark green. It was a sad time, and it seemed like there was no color anywhere.

At the end of the war,"When color came back,"Eric explains,"I just loved it so much. I keep saying that I wish our eyes could see more colors. Color is a very important part of my work."

That's true. Eric paints bright colors on paper, cuts out shapes, and then glues them onto another piece of paper. This method is called collage(拼贴画).In fact, it is what led Eric to his"ArtArt".

Eric's"ArtArt"includes large collages as well as paintings, photographs and even costumes. In all these works, he uses all kinds of colors —— everything from purple to light green to orange. Now that's a lot of color!

Our family went to the Yellow Stone National Park last summer vacation. Our son, Tom, wanted to see bears there. And what an experience it was!

When we got there, we put up our tent and went to explore（探险）. As we returned, we heard our daughter Susie cry out. And then we saw a bear go into our camp. 

Tom wanted his father to chase（追赶）him away. 

His father said, "No. It's dangerous to chase a bear. And don't let him chase you."

Susie said, "What shall we do? Maybe we should climb a tree."

Tom said, "No. We have to get him out of there. He might go to sleep in our tent."

"Maybe we could make him leave if we put some honey outside for him to eat." Susie suggested. 

Then I said, "How are you going to get the honey? It's in the tent."

We watched the bear go into the tent and heard him upset（翻倒）everything inside. 

"It's foolish for us to try to chase him away." said my husband, "Leave him alone and wait for him to come out."

We waited, but the bear stayed inside. We had to sleep in the car that night.

One day，a student asked his teacher，"What is greed（贪婪）1 ，but asked the student to walk through the chocolate2 next to their school and pick out（选出）the3 chocolate bar he could find. But there was a rule：as he passed through the factory，he could not turn back. 

The student went to the chocolate factory. 4 he walked，he saw a large chocolate bar. He liked it but thought he might be able to find an even bigger one if he kept going. He kept walking and saw5 chocolate bar. This one was a little bigger. But again，he thought he could find an even bigger one if he kept going. As he neared the end of the factory，he saw fewer chocolate bars6 of them were as large as the earlier ones. He started to7 his decision to keep going. Finally，he gave up. He went back to his teacher empty—handed and8 what had happened. The teacher told him，"You liked the9 chocolate bar，but you kept looking for a bigger one. And later，you realized that you had given up the best chocolate bar because you thought you could do better. That is called10 . "

Sometimes，we let go of（舍弃）good things in our life because we think we can find something even better. We should learn to make our choices wisely. 

A man in Shanwei in eastern Guangdong Province rented 12 trucks to protect his restaurant against typhoon Saola, which became a piece of hot news.

The restaurant is just over 100 {#blank#}1{#/blank#}(metre) away from the sea,but it did not experience any loss from Saola, according to Southern Metropolis Daily. "The tall, huge and strong trucks can protect the restaurant from the typhoon,"said the restaurant owner, Mr Lin. Lin even loaded mud（装载泥浆）onto the trucks to make {#blank#}2{#/blank#}(they) heavy enough to keep strong when the typhoon came. Typhoon Saola resulted in a rainstorm in Shanwei. 68{#blank#}3{#/blank#}(lucky),it did not do any harm to his restaurant.

These trucks cost Lin {#blank#}4{#/blank#}(much) than 20,000 yuan. Some people thought it was unnecessary to protect the restaurant by {#blank#}5{#/blank#}(spend) so much money on the trucks. However, Lin {#blank#}6{#/blank#}(believe) it was valuable. This was not {#blank#}7{#/blank#}first time for Lin to use trucks to protect his restaurant. Lin also saved his restaurant with 12 trucks during the earlier typhoon Doksuri {#blank#}8{#/blank#}August. He said he would do the same {#blank#}9{#/blank#}next typhoon comes.

After learning that Saola was gradually leaving, Lin decided to return the trucks {#blank#}10{#/blank#} reopen the restaurant.

 There's a special place in Taiwan, China. It's Qingjing Farm. I had some free time last weekend,1 I went there for a visit.

 The farm has 2 parts(部分). I went to Green Grassland first. It was so big and green, and I saw a lot of 3 . I also saw a machine(机器) selling sheep food, so I bought some. As I walked around, I stopped to 4 the sheep here and there. That was a lot of fun! Soon, it was time for the farm's sheep show. My favorite part of it was sheep shearing(剪羊毛). A man 5 a sheep's hair. It was so easy for him and he 6 in just 5 minutes.
