Noise pollution can make people {#blank#}1{#/blank#}  . For example, people may lose their hearing if they work in a {#blank#}2{#/blank#}  place for a long time.Too much noise can cause high blood pressure,{#blank#}3{#/blank#} .    
    Walking for a long time in a strong ,changeable light may cause some kinds of diseases. It {#blank#}4{#/blank#}  people feel terrible and is especially bad for the eyes. With less pollution, our planet will become {#blank#}5{#/blank#} and our health will be better.

    About a hundred people lived in a very small mountain village. It was very {#blank#}1{#/blank#} from the other villages and towns. They had few {#blank#}2{#/blank#} and none of them left the village. Of course there was neither electricity(电) nor gas(煤气) there.

    Once a writer{#blank#}3{#/blank#} the village. The backwardness(落后) of the village surprised him. He decided {#blank#}4{#/blank#} about it to the world. So he took the oldest villager to London. The old man told all about his home and village to the people. Several months {#blank#}5{#/blank#} he returned. All the villagers went to see him and asked him how he had enjoyed {#blank#}6{#/blank#} in the city.

    “Everything is {#blank#}7{#/blank#} in London,” the old man said, “I've {#blank#}8{#/blank#} to many good places and eaten all kinds of nice food and other things. But the trouble was I could not {#blank#}9{#/blank#} at night. ”

    “What happened to you?” his wife asked.

    “The{#blank#}10{#/blank#}was on in my bedroom all the time.”

    “Why not blow it out, then?”

    “I tried, but it was inside a little glass bottle.”

    Starbucks(星巴克) coffee shops have good drinks and comfortable seats. They are {#blank#}1{#/blank#} places to have a drink. The {#blank#}2{#/blank#} Starbucks opened in 1971, in Seattle, Washington. At first, it was just a common coffee shop. In the 1980's, the managers turned Starbucks into an Italian-style(意大利风格的) coffee shop. Soon, there were Starbucks coffee shops in many American cities. In the 1990's, Starbucks went {#blank#}3{#/blank#} . They opened the first shop in Japan in 1995. After that, shops opened in countries all over Asia. By the year 2000, there had been {#blank#}4{#/blank#} 3,000 Starbucks coffee shops around the world. Starbucks is much more than a coffee shop. The company is part of many community(团体) projects. For example, there is a group of managers called the "Green Team". They {#blank#}5{#/blank#} trees and clean neighbourhoods in their city. So, next time you have a drink at Starbucks, feel good about yourself. It's nice to know that some companies care about you and your environment, not just your money.
