It was December 25^th. Marie, a 13-year-old Australian girl, was happy．It was Christmas, and Marie's mother was making a special cake. {#blank#}1{#/blank#} The four coins were for good luck．After dinner Marie and her family ate the cake．They found three coins in the cake and put them on the table．Where was the fourth coin? They could not find it, but Marie's mother didn't notice.
After Christmas Marie got sick．She coughed(咳嗽), and she couldn't speak{#blank#}2{#/blank#} Marie's parents took her to hospital．Doctors at the hospital looked her over, and then said, "We are sorry, but we can't help her．"{#blank#}3{#/blank#} She grew up, she got a job, and she got married．But she never spoke．
One day, when Marie was 25 years old, she got a sore throat(嗓子疼)at work. She began to cough{#blank#}4{#/blank#} What was it? Marie didn't know．She took it to the hospital. A doctor at the hospital said, "This is a coin!"The doctor told Marie, "I think you can speak again."Marie went to a special doctor, and soon she could talk．

    One day, a lobster(龙虾) met a hermit crab(寄居蟹)in the deep sea. They stopped {#blank#}1{#/blank#} (swim) and began to have a talk with each other.

    The lobster {#blank#}2{#/blank#} (take) off his hard shell and showed his lovely and soft body. When the hermit crab saw the lobster take off the shell, {#blank#}3{#/blank#}felt surprised. He shouted at the lobster and wanted to stop the lobster.

    "Hey!" said the crab. “{#blank#}4{#/blank#} are you talking off your shell? The shell is {#blank#}5{#/blank#} (use) and it can protect you. Now you take off your shell. Big fish may eat you. You may also knock against a rock. Don't be silly. Please put {#blank#}6{#/blank#} your shell again. Or you will have to {#blank#}7{#/blank#} (payment) a heavy price for what you did."

    “{#blank#}8{#/blank#} (thank) for your reminding, hermit crab! But we take off our shells in order {#blank#}9{#/blank#} (grow) better. {#blank#}10{#/blank#}we are afraid to take off our shells, then we can't move forward in life," answered the lobster.

    The hermit crab thought it over and understood what the lobster said.

    I was ready to leave for my two-day trip. I had been busy with my work, and I {#blank#}1{#/blank#}(期盼) to get relaxed for {#blank#}2{#/blank#}(数个) days.

    As I started down the road, I suddenly stopped to turn back to my house and wrote a short message on a couple of cards to each of my children. I put each in a "{#blank#}3{#/blank#}(秘密)" place where I knew they'd find it.

    When I called the next night, they both said {#blank#}4{#/blank#} (兴奋地), "Daddy, I got your card. When did you do that?"

    The fourth man touched one of the elephant's {#blank#}7{#/blank#} (leg). "Oh, how blind you are!" he said. "It is round and tall like a tree."

    The fifth man was very tall {#blank#}8{#/blank#}( 连词) touched the elephant' s ear. "This animal is like a big fan (扇子)," he said.

    The {#blank#}9{#/blank#} (six) man touched the elephant's tail (尾巴). He said, "The elephant is like a rope (粗绳)."

    They all didn't agree {#blank#}10{#/blank#} (介词) each other. The elephant moved on and the six blind men still talked about it ……

    One day, a great general(将军) had a long talk with his soldiers（士兵）. He {#blank#}1{#/blank#}his soldiers, "What is the strongest power in {#blank#}2{#/blank#} world?" Four of his soldiers put up their {#blank#}3{#/blank#}. The general asked the first man to speak. He was {#blank#}4{#/blank#} and the other three were old. And he was not strong, {#blank#}5{#/blank#}. He said, " My gun（枪） is the strongest. I can kill anyone with {#blank#}6{#/blank#}." "Thank you. Next, please!" the general said. The second man was very strong. He said loudly," I don't think so. Soldiers use guns. So they are the strongest." The third man said, "Soldiers use guns, {#blank#}7{#/blank#}our general gives orders, so I think our general is the strongest." The {#blank#}8{#/blank#} man was the oldest. He said, "Love is the strongest. {#blank#}9{#/blank#} love, people don't need to use guns." The general said nothing but took out a medal(奖牌) and {#blank#}10{#/blank#}it to the oldest soldier.
