A kiwi is a strange bird because it cannot fly. It has no wings or tail. It (not have) feathers like other birds. Its feathers look like hair. It (sleep) during the day and it smells things (good) than most birds do.

    The kiwi lives only in New Zealand and it's endangered(濒危的) now. Take the North Island brown kiwi for example. There (be) about 35,000 individuals left in the world. Many (animal), such as dogs, cats, and so on, threaten this beautiful, small bird. In some areas, most (kiwi) do not reach the age of breeding. So the brown kiwi population has gone down greatly.

    New Zealanders want their kiwis (live). The government says that people (can) kill kiwis. There is a picture of a kiwis on New Zealand money. Sometimes, people from New Zealand are called "kiwis".
