The other day, my friends and I talked about the rules we have in school. At our school, we have to wear uniforms every day.

    The {#blank#}1{#/blank#} is that all my classmates think the uniforms are {#blank#}2{#/blank#} .We think young people should look smart and we would like to wear our own clothes. Our {#blank#}3{#/blank#} believe that if we did that, we would concentrate more on our clothes than our studies. We disagree. We would{#blank#}4{#/blank#} more comfortable and that is good for studying. If we can't do that, we should be allowed to design our own uniforms. That would be a good way to keep {#blank#}5{#/blank#}teachers and students happy.
    It's also probably a good idea for parents to {#blank#}6{#/blank#}  teenagers to study in groups during the evening. I know we get noisy sometimes, but we learn a lot {#blank#}7{#/blank#} each other. We also think that vacations should be {#blank#}8{#/blank#} .At present they're too short. Longer vacations would give us time to do things like volunteering. Last summer I{#blank#}9{#/blank#} an opportunity to volunteer at the local hospital, but I couldn't {#blank#}10{#/blank#} I had to go back to school. It would be a good experience for me because I want to be a doctor when I'm older.

SMS is becoming more and more popular. It is reported that 67% of young people like to send short messages to greet each other. Internet SMS will be more{#blank#}5{#/blank#} to people. I am thankful for SMS because it saves me much money. Just on the top end of a thumb, so much joy can be found!

      It is very    {#blank#}1{#/blank#} to deal with the rubbish in cities. This is because rubbish not only pollutes the environment but also does harm to people's   {#blank#}2{#/blank#} . We are trying to find some ways of dealing with the rubbish. First, the rubbish can be divided into different kinds. Newspaper and glass can be  {#blank#}3{#/blank#} . Used tins can be made into beautiful handicrafts（手工艺品）. Polluted water is a big {#blank#}4{#/blank#} . It must be dealt with properly before we let it flow into the river. Some harmful rubbish can be buried（埋）so that it will cause {#blank#}5{#/blank#} pollution.

    A poor farmer had a friend {#blank#}1{#/blank#}was famous for the wonderful apple tree he grew.    

    One day, his friend {#blank#}2{#/blank#}(give) the farmer a young apple tree and told him to plant it. The farmer was pleased with the gift, but he did not know where{#blank#}3{#/blank#}(plant) it.    

    He was afraid that if he planted the tree near the road, strangers would steal the fruit.     In a small house outside London lives an old man. People often see him look {#blank#}1{#/blank#} his flowers in his garden all the time.

    “Yeah, it's true that I don't know you. {#blank#}6{#/blank#} I know flowers are gifts which everyone loves. And the beauty of my garden will get many people into a good mood.” answered the old man.

    The words of the gardener warm me with {#blank#}7{#/blank#} (please). He looked after the flowers {#blank#}8{#/blank#} (make) others enjoy the warm sunshine in spring. He can't see the beautiful flowers he planted, just like Beethoven, who can't hear his wonderful music {#blank#}9{#/blank#}.

    The old man is alone but not lonely. All of his flowers are his friends and neighbors. They {#blank#}10{#/blank#} (grow) in his heart. I believe that he can hear the voice of them.

    In New York City public school，176 different languages are spoken a{#blank#}1{#/blank#} more than one million students．For 160000 children，English is not their first language．New York's Department of Education makes learning b{#blank#}2{#/blank#}for these students by providing dual﹣language （双语）programs．Students are taught in two languages，English and a{#blank#}3{#/blank#} one，such as French，German or Japanese，Math，social studies，science and all other regular courses are taught in both languages．And they learn about the {#blank#}4{#/blank#} /'kʌltʃə（r）/of the other country．

    Milady Baez，a headmaster，says these dual﹣language programs will help children succeed in the future．”The jobs of the future {#blank#}5{#/blank#} /n'kwatɔ（r）/that our students know more than one language．They're going to travel {#blank#}6{#/blank#}（在国外）and communicate with people from all over the world．This will open doors for them．”

    Anna，a Russian girl came to America {#blank#}9{#/blank#} she was two years old．She says the Russian．English program keeps her connected to her heritage and her parents happy．

    Nowadays，more and more {#blank#}10{#/blank#} （外国人）come to China．Perhaps in the future your school will also provide them with the dual=language program．
