When I was a junior high school student in 1980, God gave me a gift, it was happiness.

 One weekend, I went to visit my grandparents in the countryside. On my way home a car ran over me and cut off my  1  because of its high speed.

 Several days later when I woke up at the hospital, I realized I had to spend the rest of my life ­ 2  arms. How sad I felt at that time! Even I was full of fears. 3  slowly I knew I had to face the fact and got over it. I couldn't get my arms back even though I 4every day.

However, it's easier 5 than done. It took me nearly half a year to get out of the sadness 6 . I got so much from my past story. From then on, I could treat my life with a 7 mind. But in our daily life, I often see my classmates 8 about little things: They get a bad grade on a test; their bus comes9; they don't have a mobile phone but 10 have, and so on. But I only 11 life. I was lucky to realize from an accident : It is a waste of our life to focus on what you have 12 . We should always think of what we have. So why are so many people unhappy? Someone may say, “My whole life would improve 13 I have a new car.” But when you get the car and what 14 ? For a whole week you are walking on air. Then you go right back to being unhappy.

Happiness depends on what we have! It's in our heart. It's a state of mind, even though you own the whole world, you may still feel15 .Happiness comes from mastering the art of appreciating(感激) and taking pleasure in what you really have.

    When personal trainer James O'Driscall arrives at his gym each morning, he does not just help others to lose weight or build muscles(肌肉). There is something1.

    The next day, the dog came again at noon. And as usual, it 7 a piece of paper. This time, the butcher gave it its meat without looking at the paper.

    The dog came again at four o' clock. And the same thing 8 once again. It came for the third time at six o' clock. The butcher felt a little surprised. He said, "This is a small dog. 9 does Mrs. Smith give it so much meat to eat today?"

Looking at the piece of paper, he 10 that there were not any words on it!

    My father was a self-taught mandolin(曼陀林琴) player. He was one of the best players in our town. He could not 1 music. but if he heard a tune(曲子) a few times, he could play it, When he was young, he was a 2 of a small country music band. They played at local dances and the radio station.

    At home Dad often took out his mandolin and played for the family. We three children sang along.3 played the mandolin like my father. He could 4 your heart with the music that came out of that old mandolin, He seemed to shine when he was playing. You could see his 5 in his ability to play so well for his family.

    But Dad had to find another 6 in a factory later because the money he made at the band wasn't enough to 7 the family. Unluckily, he had an 8 one day and lost one finger, He couldn't play as 9 as before. From then on, every time we asked him to play, he would make up reasons to 10 down our request. However, we missed his performance so much. 11, he agreed and said, "Okay, but remember, 1 can't hold down on the strings(琴弦) the way I 12 to."

    When he played the old mandolin, it carried us back to a 13 ， happy time in our lives. Dad was that kind of man. 14 was what he was doing all his life. If he could give to 15 others, he would, especially his family. He was always there. sacrificing(牺牲) his time to see that his family had enough in their lives.

    When I was a little girl, I remember that when my dad was repairing something, every time he asked me to 1the hammer(锤子) for him, just so we would have a time for a 2  with each other. I 3  saw my dad drinking or taking a night out. All he did after work was taking care of his family.

    I grew up and left home for college and since then, my dad had been calling me every Sunday morning, no matter what. And when several 4  later I bought a house, my dad was 5  it by himself for three days in the 38℃ summer heat. All he asked was to hold his paint brush and 6  to him. But I was too 7  in those days. I did not find any time for a conversation with my dad.

    One Sunday morning we had a telephone talk 8 usual, I noticed that my dad had   totally 9  some things that we talked lately. I was in a hurry, so our conversation was a bit  10. Few hours later that day came a call. My father was in a  11  with an aneurysm(动脉瘤). Immediately I bought a ticket for a flight and on my way I was thinking about all12occasions(场合) to have a talk with my dad.

    By the time I 13  at the hospital, my father had passed away. Now it was he who did  not have 14  for a conversation with me. After his death, I 15  much more about him, and even more about myself. All he ever asked me was my time. And now he has all my attention every single day.
