    Hannah Taylor is a schoolgirl from Canada. One day, when she was five years old, she was walking with her mother in downtown. They saw a man 1 out of a rubbish can. She asked her mother why he did that and her mother said that the man was homeless and hungry. Hannah was very 2. She couldn't understand why some people had to live their lives without houses or enough food. Hannah started to think about how she could 3, but, of course, there is not a lot one five-year-old can do to solve the problem of homelessness.     

    Later ,when Hannah attended school, she saw another homeless person. It was a woman, 4 an old shopping trolley（购物车）which was full of 5. It seemed that everything the woman owned was in them. Hannah 6 to do something. She had been talking to her mother about the lives of homeless people 7 they first saw the homeless man. Her mother told her that if she did something to change the problem, she wouldn't 8so bad.

    Hannah began to speak out about the homelessness. She hoped to 9 her message of hope. She started the Ladybug Foudation(基金) and began to raise money.

    Stephen Hawking is a scientific giant after Albert Einstein. On 14 March, 2018, the world-famous British scientist died at 76 in Cambridge, UK.

    Stephen Hawking was born on 8 January, 1942 in England. When he was a boy, he 1 to study how things worked. His father wanted him to 2 a doctor, but he didn't want to. He had great 3 in science.

    Hawking got a very serious 4 called ALS at the age of 21. He couldn't walk or speak. Only three of his fingers could move. He could only communicate with others by computer. At first, Hawking was very sad. Later he 5 to see his life in a different way. He worked 6 and went on with his studies. Then he made some great achievements in science. He wrote many great 7. The most 8 one is A Brief History of Time. In the book, he explains the 9 and end of the universe. He also wrote books for 10, like George and the Big Bang (《乔治的宇宙大爆炸》). They help kids learn about space. And he gave speeches at universities. His unusual life encourages many young people.

    I was invited to attend a presentation at the Kentucky School. That evening I found gratitude had amazing 1 to change our attitude and our life.

    The young musician Mr. Patrick was rolled onto the stage in his wheelchair and began to play the piano. His fingers danced across the keys as he 2 beautiful music. He then began to sing as he played, and it was wonderful. But what shocked me most was his magic smile.

    Patrick was born with no eyes and an illness in the legs, which3 him lame for life. However, as a child, he was 4 with artificial eyes and placed in a wheelchair. Before his first note, he discovered the piano. When his mom hit any note on the piano, and within one or two 5, he'd get it. By his second birthday, he was playing "Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star". His father was overjoyed. "We might not play baseball, but we can play music together."

    When Patrick was at the University of Louisville, his father 6 classes with him. He was also a part of the 214-member marching band! He was a blind, wheelchair-bound trumpet player; and he and his father did it together. His father 7the night shift（夜班）in order to accompany his daytime band practice. Patrick says, "My dad's my hero."

    But even more than his unbelievable musical talent, it was Patrick's "attitude of gratitude" that touch my soul. On stage, between songs, he talked to the audience about his life and about how 8 he was with a great father. When his performance was over, Patrick and his father were on the stage together. The crowd rose to their feet and cheered for over five minutes.

    We all face misfortune in our lives.9 ， it's not the hardship but how we react to it that will determine the joy and happiness in our lives. During tough times, do we spend too much time feeling10 for ourselves, or can we, with gratitude, learn how to dance in the rain?

    When I was a twelve-year-old newspaper boy, an old lady who was my customer lived near my house. I 1 her name. On a winter afternoon, I was playing with my friend near the old lady's backyard. I found a2 smooth rock and threw it out, but the stone 3 a small window of her house. Unluckily, I saw the old lady standing behind the window. We knew we were 4, and ran away quickly. We were scared about that we would 5 and didn't worry about the old lady with the broken window in winter. The next morning, she was 6 greeting me with a smile when I gave her the newspaper. I made up my mind 7 my money to correct my mistake. After three weeks, I had seven dollars. I put the money in an envelope with a note explaining everything and/ hoped that the seven dollars would cover the 8 for repairing the window. I waited until it was dark, and put the letter in her door. The next day, I 9 the old lady her newspaper and she thanked me for it as usual and gave me a bag of cookies. After eating several cookies, I found an envelope and pulled it out. When I opened it, I was surprised. Inside were the seven dollars and a short note that said, "I'm proud of you." I smiled in relief. However, I 10 the lesson about forgiveness she taught me.
