Although it was autumn, the snow was already beginning to fall in Tibet (西藏). Our legs were so heavy and cold that 1 felt like big pieces of ice. Have you 2 seen snowmen ride bicycles? That's what we looked like! Along the way children who were 3 long wool coats stopped to look at us. In the late4 we found it was so cold that our water bottles froze (结冰).However, the lakes   5 like glass in the setting sun and looked wonderful.

    Wang Wei rode in front of me as usual. She was in high spirit and I knew I didn't need to

    6 her. To climb the mountains was hard work but as we7 us, we were surprised by the view. We seemed to be able to see for miles, and we were so high that we found ourselves cycling through clouds. After a while, we began going 8 the mountains. It was great fun especially as it slowly became much 9. At the foot of the mountains, colourful butterflies flew around us and we saw many sheep eating green grass. Then we had to 10 our caps, gloves and trousers for T-shirts and shorts.

    In the early evening we stopped to make camps. We 11 our tent（帐篷）and then we ate. After supper Wang Wei went to sleep but I stayed 12.  13 midnight the sky became clearer and the stars grew brighter. As I 14 below the stars I thought about how far we had already travelled.

    We will reach Dali in Yunan Province soon, where our cousins will join us. We 15 hardly wait to see them!

    A young man went to visit a wise man living deep in the mountain for the wisdom of life.

    “Excuse me! Could you please tell me what the most 1 day in our lives is? Is it the day when we were born or the day we 2 ? Is it the day when fall in love or the day we succeed?” The man asked.

    “Neither. The most important day in our lives is 3.” The wise man replied calmly.

    “Why?” The young man felt more than 4, “Is it because there is a moving event taking place today?”

    “No. Nothing has happened today.”

    “Is it because of my visit?”

    “Even if nobody visited me today, today is 5 very important because today is the only wealth we have . No matter how memorable yesterday is, it has gone by like a ship going down into the sea; no matter how bright tomorrow may be, it is yet to come, but no matter how common today is, it is under our 6.”

    The young man still wanted to ask something, while the wise man 7 him and said, “When we are talking about the meaning of today, we have 8 a lot of it.”

    The young man nodded and then went down the mountain.

    Actually, today is the only 9 we have. So, what we should do now is to 10yesterday and tomorrow and catch fast today!

    Several weeks ago, our headmaster, Mr. Brown, told us that our school had been chosen to compete on Smart Aleck-a game show. My best friend Nancy and I both 1 it. Nancy has a good imagination, and I know a lot of history. So we thought we'd be good 2 for the team.

    A few days later, Mr. Brown held a meeting with everyone interested in the 3 .He told us that Smart Aleck used a five-member team and three more people would be needed as backup (替补). Mr. Brown said we would have a 4 among all the students present and the top eight scorers would become the team and the backup. Everybody agreed that this was a 5 way to decide.

    Yesterday, all of the hopefuls got together. Mr. Brown acted as the host. After a couple of hours, all the places on the team were set 6 one. Nancy and I tied(打成平手)for that last position. We had to hold a one-on- one competition. The winner would be on the team and the loser would be the 7 .

    Midway through our two-person competition, I was starting to pull 8 . Then I saw the look on Nancy's face. I waited for a second and knew 9 I had to do. As much as I wanted to be on Smart Aleck, Nancy wanted it even more. So, starting with my next question, I held back and let Nancy 10 , just by a little bit. When she 11 she would be on the show, she felt sorry for my not being on the team. However, I will still have the 12 of seeing the show up close.

    Was I 13 by not trying as hard as I could? I don't think so. No one noticed, and Nancy and I didn't say it. It won't hurt the team 14Nancy will be a very good competitor on the real show. I think that making my best friend happy was the 15 thing to do.

There are some snack shops inside schools in China. These shops sell snacks1a lot of salt and sugar. Many young students like 2 snacks. Because they think snacks taste good. They often go there3 some after class. But eating 4 snacks is not good for 5 health. 6 the Chinese government( 政 府 ) said there would be 7 snack shops in the schools from April 1st.

There is also a new 8 on students' food safety. The government is asking schools to keep an eye on students' 9. It asks teachers to 10 with students at school together at the lunch time.
