On September 19, Alibaba went public (上市) on the New York Stock Exchange(纽约证券交易所). It shows that Ma Yun has done his business successfully. A short Chinese man seems to be the tallest man in the world right now. Ma used to be an English teacher. So far, he has become the richest man on the Chinese mainland.

    Ma was born in Hangzhou and grew up as a happy kid. At the age of twelve, he found that English was very interesting. Every morning he got up at 5 a.m., and then ran to a hotel near the West Lake where he could communicate with foreign tourists in English. He did it for nine years. The experience made him become a fantastic English speaker and also opened his eyes to the wide world. In a 1995 trip to the US, Ma was shown to the Internet for the first time. Seeing the chance, Ma returned to China and set up a website without knowing much about computers. Four years later, Ma set up Alibaba in Hangzhou. People called him “Crazy Jack Ma”. But fifteen years later, Alibaba has developed into the world's largest e-commerce (电子商务) company.

    My parents told me we were going camping during winter vacation. Camping! They are always trying to get me outside more. It seems like my mom is always saying, "Brian, turn off the computer!" or "Brian, put down your phone and talk to us!" They don't understand that I'm in the zone when I'm using a keyboard, so of course I don't want to stop.

    We drove for an hour to Everglades National Park. As soon as we got there, I couldn't get a signal(信号) for my phone. Suddenly, I was facing three days of no contact with the outside world. My mom tried to tell me I'd like it, "You'll be able to look around more when you're not staring at a screen."

    We took a hike with a ranger(护林者) in the afternoon. He explained a lot to us about the Everglades. At first, I couldn't care less, but after a while I started listening. By the end of the hike, I realized there was more action going on in the park than in most video games.

    We did a lot of walking and that night I was really tired. Even so, I woke up in the midnight, and I was scared at first because of some strange sounds. But then I realized it was the barred owl that the ranger had described. It sounded like it was calling out "Who cooks for you? Who cooks for you?" Then I was not afraid anymore and went back to sleep.

    The next two days we did a lot more exploring. I saw that all the land and water and animals were connected in the Everglades. Small fish eat mosquito eggs; large fish eat those smaller fish; and alligators eat the large fish. If you got rid of(除掉) the mosquitoes, you might lose some of the other animals higher up the food chain too.

    After we left, we talked in the car about the Everglades. Right in the middle of our discussion, I heard a familiar sound from my phone. My friend Jeff was sending me a message. I reached for my phone, then put it back down. "Aren't you going to reply?" asked Mom.

    "I will in a little while," I said. My dad and mom looked at each other and just smiled.

Mr. King goes to a dinner party. He is1 old clothes. He comes into the room,2 no one looks at him, and they don't ask him to sit at the table. 

Then Mr. King goes3 home and puts on his good clothes, and goes back to the party. Then4 in the room looks at him and he gets very good food to eat. 

Mr. King5 off his clothes and puts them in the food and says, "Eat, clothes!"

A man asks, "6 are you doing?" He says, "I7 my clothes to eat food. When I wear my old clothes, you don't look at me and don't ask me to sit. Now I'm in8 clothes, and I get good food. So I see that you give the food to clothes, not to9 !" Then he goes out of the party. 

This story10 us not to judge (判断) a man only by his clothes. Just like the saying goes: never judge a book by its cover (封面).

Mary always loved music. Her1  for music started when she was a little girl. And when she was a teenager，she knew that the only instrument that could 2  move her heart was the piano. Growing up3  one，she had to play on the old piano at her local church. She was not born to be a musical talent. Her first few pieces （作品） were not so4 . They were always out of tune （跑调） and sometimes teenagers of her age laughed at her，5  Mary didn't care. To her，making6  was all that mattered. 

Years went by，Mary finally saved enough7  to buy her own piano. She 8  the music stores for her dream piano，examining each one carefully. Finally，she found the9  one in her mind. The beautiful piano could make a warm，clear and loud sound10  could fill an entire room. 

With great joy，Mary spent11  a day playing it. Every sound was as clear and powerful as she had ever12 . She became more skilled and confident （自信） with every passing day. She began to13  more and more challenging pieces，enjoying the happiness that only music could bring her. 

Years later，Mary became a famous14 ，traveling around the world and attracting people with her music. However，the piano was still her15  partner，always ready to help her express the deepest parts of her heart. 

One day, all feelings were on vacation on an island, and each of them was having a good time. Suddenly, there was a warning of a strong storm, so all the feelings rushed to their boats. Yet, Love didn't want to run away quickly. But as the sky got dark, Love realised it was time to leave. But there were no boats to use. Love looked around with hope.

Just then Richness was passing by. Love asked, "Richness, can you take me with you?"Richness answered,"No, I can't. There's a lot of gold in my boat. There's no place here for you."

Sorrow passed by after a while. Again, Love asked for help. But it was useless. "No, I can't take you with me. I am so sad. I want to be by myself."

When Happiness passed by a few minutes later, Love again called for help. But Happiness was so happy that it couldn't care about anyone else.

Love was growing hopeless. Just then somebody shouted, "Come, Love, I will take you with me."Love jumped onto the boat happily, but didn't know who was giving a hand.

After getting off the boat, Love met Knowledge. Love asked,"Knowledge, do you know who was so kind to give me a lift when no one else wished to help?" Knowledge smiled,"That was Time."

"Time?"asked Love. "But why did Time help me?"Knowledge smiled and answered,"Because only Time is able to understand how valuable(有价值的) Love is."

I am going to share with you my unforgettable experience of taking part in the Hangzhou Asian Games.

As a volunteer, I was lucky enough to see the passion and dedication(奉献) of the athletes, as well as the warmth and hospitality(好客) of the Hangzhou people. This event not only gave me a chance to learn a lot about the world, but also taught me valuable life lessons that I will remember forever.

The Hangzhou Asian Games, held from September 23rd to October 8th, was a wonderful sports event. Athletes and spectators (观众) were brought together from all over the world because of the games.

As a volunteer, I had the opportunity to do something in different aspects of the games, including event management, logistics, and customer service. My job was to help the athletes and officials with the daily activities, and to make sure that they had a smooth and enjoyable experience during their stay in Hangzhou. 

Because of the games, athletes from all around the world came to China and saw the rapid development of Hangzhou. They enjoyed the food here very much. I felt so happy and proud to be a Chinese when talking about our country with those foreign friends.
