China is a nation of etiquette(礼仪). Chinese people are among the most hospitable people in the world. If foreigners visit a Chinese family, they would be surprised at the warmth that they would receive as guests.

    When you visit a Chinese family, the host usually makes tea for you. Then he will serve you snacks(小吃) like biscuits or candy. Someone in the family will also chat with you, never letting you feel lonely.

    At the same time, other family members will prepare a meal for you. Chinese people treat(款待) their guests with a big meal. They always present more food than the guests can eat. On the table, the guests must be the first to eat. Perhaps one of the things that surprises a Western guest most is that the Chinese host likes to pick food for visitors, which won't happen at Western tables. The Chinese family go out of their way to make you feel at home. As you are done eating, the host usually says, "It seems that you didn't eat much. Please have more." Although you tell them you are full, they still put more food in your bowl.

Being warm and hospitable has long been an important part of Chinese culture and tradition. As Confucius(孔子) said thousands of years ago:

    To meet friends from afar,

    How happy we are!

    Do you know what the White House is? Perhaps some of you do，while others don't.

    The White House is a house in Washington. The president of the U.S.A. lives in it. It's really white. But do you know why the White House is white? The story happened in 1812. That year England was at war with America. The British army got to Washington and set the president's house on fire. In 1814，in order to hide the marks of the fire，the stone walls of the president's house were painted white and it has been the “White House” ever since.

Andrew has a mental illness. He doesn't speak. He had used a picture chart to communicate. The pictures stand for words—people, places, food and activities.

Years ago, Andrew's parents discovered that he could communicate more by a letter board. He could point to and spell out words and thoughts. Using the letter board needs time and effort for Andrew. He hated to use the letter board, so his parents always offered it to him.

On Andrew's 15th birthday, his mother took him to a shoe store. After buying the shoes, she said. "It's Andrew's birthday today. Fifteen! Now we're off to celebrate."

The salesmen said happy birthday to Andrew. Instead of having Andrew point to the "thank you" on his picture chart, his mother held up his letter board and asked Andrew how he'd like to respond. Andrew pointed to each letter one by one on the board— "Thank you." Andrew's mother smiled.

One of the salesmen asked what it was. "This is a letter board that Andrew uses to communicate," his mother replied. "We've practiced it for years. It's amazing. It's changed everything for us." Then the salesman told them he had a brother called Jason. "Jason is 30 and doesn't speak," he said.

"Andrew, what do you think?" his mother turned to Andrew. Andrew started pointing to letters, "Tell Jason..." She was excited. Andrew continued, "Tell Jason he will change everyone's opinion of him in 26 letters." Andrew's mother and the salesmen were all moved and happy.

Months later, Andrew's mother returned to the shoe store and learned that Jason is now using a letter board to "speak". This is how Andrew affected another person's life in a split second (瞬间).

"I am Peppa Pig. This is my little brother George! This is Mommy Pig and this is Daddy Pig! " Do you know this family? I like them very much. Peppa Pig is from England, and she is four years old. Her favorite thing is to play with her best(最好的) friend Suzy and her brother George. Who's George's best friend? Peppa? No! His best friend is his dinosaur(恐龙). He takes(带着) his dinosaur everywhere. Mommy Pig is beautiful. She cooks for the family. Daddy Pig sometimes cooks for them, too. They often jump in muddy puddles(泥坑) with Peppa and George. They are very happy.
