Once, in a small village, lived a family with eight children. Two of the children loved 1 very much, but the family was so poor that it was impossible to send 2 of them to study at the art college at the same time. Her father Mr. Smith is a skilled carpenter(木匠). He built a workshop in their yard for Lily to do hands- on activities. He taught her simple woodworking skills and encouraged her to create her own projects, whether it was a birdhouse or a toy. Meanwhile, Mrs. Smith, an artist, used her paints and brushes to help Lily make her creations more beautiful. 

As Lily grew older, her parents continued to support her interest. They sent her to take art classes every week. They would proudly display her works around their house. 

Supported by her parents, Lily went to study in a famous art college later. There she studied hard and learned from excellent teachers. Finally she became a great artist like her mother. 

"I can't be successful without my parents' great love and support, " Lily expressed during one of her art exhibitions( 展览). 

When Charley got up one morning, he saw the ground deeply covered with snow. 

"We must have a path through this 1 " said his father. "I would make one if I had time. But I must be at the office 2 this morning." "Do you think you could make the path, my son?" he asked little Charley. 

"I? Why, the snow is too 3 !'

One day five fishermen go fishing. They are lucky. Each fisherman gets a big fish. 

"What a fine dinner we will have!" says one fisherman. "Now let's go home. "

"Are we all here? Let me count first, " says another. "One, two, three, four. Oh, no! One of us is missing(失踪的)!"

"It cannot be!" says another. So he begins to count. "One, two, three, four. I see four fishermen, too! One of us has drowned(溺死)!"

All the fishermen are heartbroken. They cry and cry. 

Just then a little girl comes by. "Why do you cry?" she asks them. 

"One fisherman is missing, " says one fisherman. 

"One, two, three, four, " he counts again. 

The little girl sees his mistake right away. So she says, "Will you give me your fish if I find your missing friend?" asks she. 

"Yes! Yes!" say they. 

"Now jump into the river one at a time, " the little girl tells them. "And I will count you. "

The fishermen jump into the river one by one. One! Two! Three! Four! Five!

"Five!" the fishermen shout, "You find our missing friend!" Then the fishermen give the little girl all their fish. They have no fish for dinner, but they are all happy again.
