A man sat at an underground station in Washington, D.C., and started to play the violin. It was a cold day in January. He played six Bach（巴赫）pieces for about 45 minutes. It was rush hour and thousands of people went through the station, most of them on their way to work.

    Three minutes went by and the first person, a middle-aged man, noticed there was a musician playing. He slowed down and stopped for a few seconds and then hurried up to meet his schedule.

    After a minute, the violinist received his first dollar tip: a young woman threw the money in the box and continued to walk. Then another few minutes went by and someone stood against the wall to listen to him, but the young man looked at his watch and started to walk again. Clearly he was late for work.

    During the musician's performance, only six people stopped and stayed for a while, twenty gave him money but continued to walk. When he finished playing, no one applauded（鼓掌）. No one knew the violinist was Joshua Bell, one of the best musicians in the world.

    This is a real story. Joshua Bell playing in the underground station was organized by The Washington Post（《华盛顿邮报》）as part of a social experiment. One of the conclusions from this experiment could be: If we do not have a moment to stop and listen to one of the best musicians in the world playing the best music, how many other things are we missing?

    One day I went for a walk in the forest with my parents. We walked down a small road after lunch. I saw a big blue bird.

    "Look!" I called out.

    Mum and Dad didn't hear me and walked on.

    The bird was beautiful, I followed it and wanted to catch it.

    Oops! I fell over!

    The sky (天空) looked dark. "Was I asleep?" I thought. I knew I fell over just now. I looked around and saw a man wearing a big blue jacket.

    "Your mum and dad called Search and Rescue for help, because they couldn't find you," said the man.

    "What?" I was surprised to hear that.

    "You passed out (昏迷)," the man said. "And you looked injured."

    Oh, yes, my ankle (脚踝) looked big and I couldn't walk.

    "Don't worry. The ambulance (救护车) will arrive soon," said the man.

    "How did you find me?" I asked.

    "We let Goldie smell (闻) your jacket. Goldie followed your smell and found you," he said. Then I saw a big dog.

    The ambulance team found us soon. They took me to the ambulance. Goldie came with us.

    We got to the hospital quickly. Mum and Dad were waiting there. I had an X-ray (X光检查) of my ankle. Luckily, it wasn't broken, but I needed to stay in bed for days.

    Mum and Dad thanked everyone. And we thanked Goldie too!

    When Mr. David retired（退休）, he bought a small house in a village near the sea. He liked it and hoped to live a quiet life in it. But to his surprise, many visitors came to see his house in summer holidays, for it was the most interesting building in the village. From morning to night, there were visitors outside the house. They kept looking into the rooms through the windows and many of them even went into the house. He decided to drive the visitors away. So he put a notice on the window. The notice said, "If you want to satisfy your curiosity（好奇心）, come in and look around. Price twenty dollars. "Mr. David was sure that the visitors would stop coming, but he was wrong. More and more visitors came and Mr. David had to spend every day showing them around his house. "I came here to retire, not to work as a guide（导游）, "he said angrily. In the end, he sold the house and moved away.

Li Xiaorong also 7 lion dance and runs after her dreams. She is one of the 8 of lion dance. Though she doesn't perform the difficult movements, she can still play the drums during a performance.

The young lion dancers also put short videos online to let more people know 9 lion dance is like. These videos give the world a fuller picture of lion dance. 

The young dancers are proud: of what they are doing. As they dance 10 , the young dancers themselves are writing up their own stories of bravery and growth.
