Mr. Brown got up late this morning. He was going to be late for work. It was raining hard and the streets were{#blank#}1{#/blank#} He drove {#blank#}2{#/blank#} fast that he couldn't see the red lights. He couldn't stop his car {#blank#}3{#/blank#} it hit another one. An old man got out of the car and called out {#blank#}4{#/blank#} (angry), “What are you doing? How can you drive so fast?” “I'm sorry, sir,” said Mr. Brown, “I {#blank#}5{#/blank#} (not see) the lights turn red.” Then he brought out a bottle of wine and gave it {#blank#}6{#/blank#} the old man. “It's cold today, sir,” said Mr. Brown. “Please drink a little, and then you'll get {#blank#}7{#/blank#}.”The old man drank some wine and became happy. He asked, “I'm feeling much {#blank#}8{#/blank#}now. Why don't you drink some?” “I can't drink {#blank#}9{#/blank#} (something) now, sir.” Answered Mr. Brown, “I {#blank#}10{#/blank#} (wait) for the policeman. Only drunkards cause accidents, you know!”

    The story was a true one and still moved me deeply. Twenty years ago, I got to know a poor lady{#blank#}1{#/blank#}(name) Rose. She had no kids and lived alone. When I went to visit her, I always took Rose some coffee and food. One day she said she would like{#blank#}2{#/blank#}( invite) me to have lunch.

    We walked from my work place{#blank#}3{#/blank#} a little restaurant. On the way, I {#blank#}4{#/blank#} (begin) to worry: I knew that she had no money, but if I offered to pay for the lunch, I was afraid I would hurt her.

    There {#blank#}5{#/blank#} (be) many people in the restaurant, and all of them were happy. Rose told me{#blank#}6{#/blank#}(sit) and drink coffee by the window. Then she went to work in the kitchen. After about 20 minutes, she came out and sat with me. She just paid{#blank#}7{#/blank#}the meal and we started to enjoy the delicious food together. She told me that the restaurant let people{#blank#}8{#/blank#}(work) for a meal if they had no money, or would give them a free meal if they were not able to work .{#blank#}9{#/blank#}my surprise, she also said that the workers who were working there were all volunteers.

    I still remember the beautiful afternoon I shared with Rose. I think life cannot be easy for us, but we can still do something for our friends and neighbors. The world will be{#blank#}10{#/blank#}(nice) than before if everybody would like to share happiness with others. It will never be dark if there is a light in everyone's heart.

    Hearing is very important to all of us. We can hear beautiful music, nice songs of birds, the laughter of people or other different  {#blank#}1{#/blank#}(kind) of sounds in the world with our ears. In fact, earplugs {#blank#}9{#/blank#} are special can be made for you if you go to concerts a lot or if you are a musician yourself.
