June came and the hottest month of the year began. A lot of {#blank#}1{#/blank#} (travel) came to the seaside city. All of the hotels were full but Mr. {#blank#}2{#/blank#} (John). The charge（收费）of the room was the lowest {#blank#}3{#/blank#} few people stayed there. The hotel {#blank#}4{#/blank#} (catch) fire three times that year. Most of the workers left there and found jobs in other {#blank#}5{#/blank#} (hotel).

    It was eleven o'clock. Mr. John went to close the gate when {#blank#}6{#/blank#} young man came in, with a big bag in his hand.

    “What can I do for you, Sir?” asked Mr. John {#blank#}7{#/blank#} (happy). “The {#blank#}8{#/blank#} (cheap) room in your hotel.”

    “OK.” Said Mr. John, “By the way, may I keep your bag for you?”

    “No, thanks. There's nothing expensive in it but a long rope. I'm afraid another fire {#blank#}9{#/blank#} (happen) in your hotel. If it does, I'll throw the rope out of the window so that I'll be able to escape from it.”

    “Yes?”Mr. John said {#blank#}10{#/blank#} surprise. “So you have to pay the bill before you go to your room.”
