MY Travel Experience in China

    During the summer holidays I visited a variety of regions in China.

My first stop was Beijing and of course the Great Wall. Without question it lived up to my {#blank#}1{#/blank#} (expect).

    After a long journey, I reached Yunnan. With{#blank#}2{#/blank#}(it) minority villages and impressive landscapes, Yunnan had a lot to offer. One of my {#blank#}3{#/blank#} (enjoy) moments in Yunnan was during my visit to The Tiger Leaping Gorge. The climb over the gorge was at times exhausting {#blank#}4{#/blank#} always breathtaking. The views couldn't {#blank#}5{#/blank#} (imagine) in their beauty and they {#blank#}6{#/blank#} (leave) me with many great memories.

    After taking a boat from the mainland I arrived at {#blank#}7{#/blank#} island province of Hainan. There I visited Baihua Waterfall. Floating on a pool of water at the base and looking up at the waterfall with a background of blue sky was one of the most {#blank#}8{#/blank#} (relax) experiences of my life.

    Throughout China there are many ancient buildings and in particular ancient towns. Lijiang and Dali both have glorious {#blank#}9{#/blank#} (example) of this. It was remarkable to step back in time and get an idea of{#blank#}10{#/blank#} China might have looked like all those years ago. I thought the buildings were beautiful and full of history.

    I had a wonderful time! China is both fascinating and beautiful!

    Chinese researchers have planned to build an airport in Antarctica in November. The Chinese {#blank#}1{#/blank#} (be) not very used to flying to the southernmost continent, because the country s first polar plane, the Snow Eagle 601, {#blank#}2{#/blank#} (put) into use only three years ago.

    Before the Snow Eagle 601, Chinese researchers traveled to the ice-covered land by ship, which took significantly {#blank#}3{#/blank#} (long) than flying. There are currently more than 20 airports in Antarctica, but none of them belong to China. The Snow Eagle 601 has to rely on Russian airports {#blank#}4{#/blank#} (take) off and land. That's {#blank#}5{#/blank#} the Chinese researchers decided to build their own. Building an airport in Antarctica is very different from building one elsewhere. The continent is covered by a {#blank#}6{#/blank#} (constant) moving layer of ice, so the builders must find somewhere that moves at the slowest possible pace and in a {#blank#}7{#/blank#} (fix) direction.

    The builders managed to find a spot back in early 2017 following {#blank#}8{#/blank#} tough measuring process that took place in the storm-like polar winds. The next problem is the snow. The soft nature of snow makes {#blank#}9{#/blank#} a bad material for a runway. So the builders must use road roller-like {#blank#}10{#/blank#} (machine) to press the snow, which can be very time-consuming in extreme coldness.

    I wonder if it's because I haven't been able to be outdoor for so long {#blank#}1{#/blank#}I've grown so crazy about very everything {#blank#}2{#/blank#} (do) with nature. I can well remember that there was{#blank#}3{#/blank#} time when a deep blue sky, the song of the birds, moonlight and flowers could never have kept me spellbound. That {#blank#}4{#/blank#}(change) since I was here.

    One evening when it was so warm, I stayed awake{#blank#}5{#/blank#} purpose until half past eleven in order to have a good look at the moon by {#blank#}6{#/blank#}. But as the moon gave far too much light, I didn't dare open a window. Another time five months ago, I happened to be upstairs at dusk when the window was open. I didn't go downstairs {#blank#}7{#/blank#}the window had to be shut.

    Sadly …I am only able to look at nature {#blank#}8{#/blank#} dirty curtains hanging before very dusty windows. It's no pleasure {#blank#}9{#/blank#} (look) through these any longer because nature is one thing that really must {#blank#}10{#/blank#} (experience).
