We spent this holiday with our uncle. He loved to go on walks to collect stones. One day, he bought us backpacks(背包） and asked us to go to the mountain with him and carry the stones.

    The whole day we walked around. Every now and then he put stones in our bags. To our surprise, he also took some stones out from our bags. But we thought he had just found better ones. When we returned to the house, we were very tired. The backpacks were so heavy that we felt relaxed when we put them down. Yet our uncle's backpack was half empty.

    “Why did you give us so many stones?” we asked.

    “I didn't. You did.” He said. “You didn't know it, but I gave you a test today. I listened to every word you said. Whenever you were complaining (抱怨), I added a stone to your bags. Whenever you talked about something with positive (积极的) thinking, I took out a stone. And now look at your backpacks.”Our backpacks were full of stones.

    “Your negative(消极的) thoughts are like stones. You carry them in your mind just like those stones in a backpack. Once you have more negative thoughts ,your mind will be heavier.”

    With great love, our uncle taught us one of the most important lessons in life.

    Confidence is very important in daily life. It can help you to develop a healthy attitude. A study shows that the people who are more confident are much happier. They can have more chance to make themselves successful. But how to be more confident? Here are some suggestions:

    Speak loud    When you are not confident, you can't do well what you want to do. You speak in a voice so low that other people can hardly hear you. Try to speak loud enough so that people can hear you clearly. The high voice can help you become more confident.

    Play sports   Physical exercise makes you tired but completely relaxed. A strong body helps you be full of confidence.

    Encourage yourself    Write down a list of things you did during the day to see how many things you have done well. Did you finish your homework? Did you tell a joke that made everybody laugh? Give yourself praise for the good things you've done.

    Get rid of (消除) fear    Fear comes along with failure. But it's easy to overcome (克服) if you know that failure is part of your life. Don't hide your head just because you said something stupid last time. Try to start again and believe you can do better.

    Pick up a hobby    If you like singing, sing as much as you can. In some ways, a hobby can make you outstanding. And it will make you happy and confident.

    Today is November 28th. It's my sister Gina's eighth birthday. In the morning, my parents take us to Zig Zag's Store. There my mother buys a red sweater for Gina. And we go to Xinhua Book Store. There I buy some CDs for Gina. My father also buys a book for Gina, and its name is Harry Potter. It's Gina's favorite book. In the afternoon, my parents have a birthday party for Gina at home. Gina's friends, Bill, Jim and Cindy come to the party. Bill brings a new pencil to Gina. Jim gives Gina a soccer ball because she likes playing soccer. Cindy gives Gina an English-Chinese dictionary. Gina is very happy. Oh, I'm Gina's brother. My name is Robert.
