We're in the park in summer. It's sunny and hot. Alice can fly a kite. She has a yellow and grey kite. Kitty is sitting on the bench (长凳). She likes ice-cream. Ben and Eddie like to swim in the lake (湖). Alice and Kitty say (说), " Don't swim here. It's so dangerous (危险的) !" "I'm sorry." They're good friends. They're happy.

    Betty is an American girl. She is thirteen. She is in Beijing with her parents. She doesn't know much Chinese. She can't speak Chinese well. Sometimes her friends don't understand her.

    It's Sunday morning. She is going to the zoo to see pandas. She is waiting at a bus stop. At the bus stop she asks a boy which bus to take to go to the zoo. But the boy can't understand her. Then she takes out a pen and a piece of paper. She draws a panda on it and shows the picture to the boy. The boy smiles and then shows her the way to the zoo.

Mark: Hi, Alice! Would you like to have a picnic?

Alice: Sure. Are you free(空闲) on Monday?

Mark: No, I'm busy. I go to the library on Monday. What about Tuesday?

Alice: No. I play the piano on Tuesday. I'm free on Monday, Thursday and Friday.

Mark: I'm free on Friday.

Alice: OK! Let's have a picnic on Friday.

    The weather in Shanghai is not always good. In winter it is often cold and wet(湿的). In summer it is very hot. Spring is very beautiful. It is not very hot or cold. But we have a lot of （许多) rain in spring. Autumn is the best season (季节). It's dry(干的) ,and it is sunny and warm all the time.

    How are you in the US now? We are in China now. Sam and I are very happy. China is big and beautiful. People speak Chinese here. We love Beijing. There are many interesting places and lots of delicious food. I like Chinese food. I like dumplings very much. I can make dumplings now. It's funny. And I can use chopsticks, but Sam doesn't like them. It's very difficult for him to use them. I have two good friends. They're Daming and Lingling. They teach me Chinese.
