Chinese Paper Cutting
As traditional Chinese art, paper cutting has a long history. The first and earliest pa per cutting was found in China 1,500 years ago. {#blank#}1{#/blank#}. Luckily, Voyo Woo, a Chinese immigrant（移民）in America, is trying to bring this art back to life.
One Saturday in 2014, Ms. Woo held a paper cutting show at a shopping center near Washington. {#blank#}2{#/blank#}. She hoped more people would enjoy the art of paper cutting.
Ms. Woo began to study the art of paper cutting as a 14-year-old girl in her hometown in China. She said all the students at school had to learn paper cutting. But she had a deep love for it. {#blank#}3{#/blank#}. Later, she won the second prize in a national painting and art competition. Ms. Woo went to America after she finished college in 2008. Soon after that, she took part in an activity to promote（宣传）Chinese paper cutting. {#blank#}4{#/blank#}. “It is important to promote this art to Americans or anyone who is interested in it. Maybe it will make this art more popular.” Woo said.

Our words carry huge weight. They may influence people for years, and even for a lifetime. They provide them with courage to go on or one more reason to give up. When I was fourteen, my family moved to another city. Junior high was always a difficult time for me, and the move made my ninth-grade year even harder. In English, people use many expressions(表达) with the word "dog". People in the west love their dogs and treat them well. Dogs without owners to care for them lead a very different kind of life: The expression' to lead a dog's life" means living an unhappy life.
Some people say we live in a dog-eat-dog world. That means many people are competing the same things, like good jobs. They say if a person wants to be successful he has to work like a dog. This means they have to work very hard. Such hard work can make people dog-tired. And, this situation would be even worse if they became ill as a dog.
Sometimes we should let a sleeping dog lie, which means we'd better not trouble a person who may cause problems. And if someone says you are a lucky dog, he is just saying you're very lucky.
