Nearly 3,300 years ago, Egyptian(埃及的) king Tutankhamun died strangely at age 18.
In 1922, UK scientists Lord Carnarvon and
Howard Carter found Tutankhamun's tomb(坟墓) in
the desert, west of the River Nile(尼罗河) . I{#blank#}1{#/blank#} they found lots of jewellery (珠宝), which they s{#blank#}2{#/blank#} one year sorting(分类) .
On two nameplates(标示牌) behind a statue and inside the
king's coffin(棺材) they also found the king's curse! It
was written in old Egyptian words. The curse said that people who broke into
Tutankhamun's tomb would d{#blank#}3{#/blank#}.
It seems that the curse did have some
effect!
In 1923, only one year after e{#blank#}4{#/blank#} the tomb, Lord Carnarvon, died suddenly.
From 1923 to 1929, more than 20 others who
took part in opening the tomb died one by one. Some died of high fever, while
some killed t{#blank#}5{#/blank#}.
