Hello! My name is Kim. I'm from the U. S. I am a tall girl. I like basketball best. I often play basketball with my friends on the playground. We have two teams—the White Team and the Yellow Team. I am on the Yellow Team. Each team has five players. My favourite basketball player is Yao Ming. I like him best and I want to be a basketball player like him.

    Most English people have three names: a first name, a middle name and the family name. Their family name comes last. For example, my full name is Jim Allan Green. Green is my family name .My parents gave me both of my other names.

    People don't use their middle names very much. So “John Henry Brown” is usually called “John Brown”. People never use Mr., Mrs. or Miss before their first names. So you can say John Brown, or Mr. Brown; but you should never say Mr. John. They use Mr., Mrs. or Miss with the family name but never with the first name.

    Sometimes people ask me about my name. “When you were born, why did your parents call you Jim?” they ask. "Why did they choose that name?” The answer is they didn't call Jim. They called me James. James was the name of my grandfather. In England, people usually call me Jim for short. That's because it is shorter and easier than James.

    Today is Saturday. All of us go to school early, but we have no class. Our teachers are going to take us to the zoo. We take buses there.

    We get there at nine o'clock.

    How beautiful the zoo is! There are many trees, some hills, and a big lake. It's spring(春天) now, so the flowers are coming out. There are many people there, too. We like to watch monkeys. They are playing on the hills or having oranges, apples and bananas. We have a good time.

    We leave the zoo at four in the afternoon.

    Wu Dong has a good friend. His name is Tom. He is from English.

    They are in the same class. They live near the school. Every day they go to school together. Tom likes China and Chinese food. He likes noodles and dumplings very much. From Monday to Friday, they do homework together in the afternoon. On Saturday and Sunday, Tom helps Wu Dong study English and Wu Dong helps Tom speak Chinese. They learn from each other.

    In Britain, winter is not very cold and summer is not very hot. Why is this?

    Because it is an island country. In winter the sea is warmer than the land. The winds from the sea bring warm air to Britain. In summer the sea is cooler than the land. The winds from the sea bring cool air to Britain.

    The winds from the west blow over Britain all the year. They blow from the southwest. They are wet winds. They bring rain to Britain all the year. Britain has a lot of rain all the year. The west of Britain is wetter than the east. The winds must blow over the highland in the west. They drop more rain there. The east of Britain is drier than the west.

    I'm Mike. My family has a garden. It is not big and not small. I like tomatoes (西红柿). So I grow some tomatoes. My sister and brother like tomatoes, too. So they grow some tomatoes. I water them every day. I give them a little water. They grow and grow and they grow very well. They need water. They have many leaves and flowers. They have some small tomatoes. But my sister and brother give the plants water once a week. So they grow slowly (慢). They have some yellow small leaves. They don't have flowers. They need water. They need a lot of water. They don't look after them. They will die(死).
